Silently, I beg him not to take out his anger on Castor. He’s already suffered enough.

After a little more smoke fumes from Leo’s nostrils, he chooses to let Castor’s comment go. But not before he steps between the two of us.

“I’ll give you two ten minutes to talk alone. But that’s it.”

“Alone, huh?” Castor coughs again, nodding towards the blinking camera ahead.

“Take it or leave it,” Leo warns.

“We’ll take it,” I say, willing to do whatever it takes to keep these two bulls from fighting.

“I do as the lady says,” Castor nods in agreement.

“And she does what I say,” Leo responds.

Twisting around to face me, my handsome prince takes a quick step forward, raising his hand to gently caress my cheek.

“I’ll be alright, Leo,” I assure him.

Some of the fire raging in his blue eyes seems to calm. “I hope you like your gift,” he whispers. Leaning forward, he kisses me. Hard.

I know it’s just some alpha display of authority and power, but that doesn’t make it any less hot.

I lean into his kiss, burning alive from the combined heat of lust and shame.

This time, though, when Leo pulls away, I’m not swept up in a cold wind. Instead, his warmth lingers. And I’m not sure if it’s because of the decision I made last night, or if it’s because Castor is here to block some of the frigid breeze.

Either way, when Leo turns to give Castor one last stare down, I don’t feel quite as vulnerable as I feared I would. And I don’t feel quite as anxious either.

Both of these men want what’s best for me.

Now, it’s up to me to figure out what that is.

Leo

This was a mistake.

Even as I watch Sophia smile over the video feed, I can’t help but feel like I’ve made the wrong move.

… Or maybe it’s because she’s smiling.

No one should be able to make her smile but me.

Yet here she is, catching up with an old friend. An old friend that I brought to her.

Remember why you did it. Not just to make your princess feel better. And it wasn’t just to give her back some sense of power and freedom. It’s also because the more power she has, the more power you have. Let this play out, and don’t do anything stupid.

That inner voice of reason hardly holds a candle to the jealous rage burning inside of my gut. But I listen to it, only because of the way Sophia leaned into my kiss when I took her in front of Castor.

She wasn’t ashamed or coy about what we’ve become. And that gives me some assurance that she isn’t about to forget about all we’ve been through just because I’ve dragged an important part of her past into our sanctuary.

“How has he been treating you?” Castor asks.

I turn up the volume and lean in closer to the screen, intensely curious to see how Sophia handles these types of questions.

“Like a partner,” she says with nothing but confidence.
