Jude sneakily asks, “Is it more beautiful than Kellen?”

“Totz,” she says, “and I can actually blow bits off this one.”

I cough, trying not to laugh. She’s deranged.

Tim, Gabe, and Levi, I can see, are totally fascinated. They’ve never met her in person, and even I think this introduction is epic.

She finally turns her beautiful grey eyes on me, flicks them around the room, and stops briefly on Bug. When she starts to struggle off Jude, I stand to help her.

The satin of the blouse feels amazing under my fingers. As my fingertips brush along her skin, a current of electricity runs up my arm, and she gasps. I smile at her, knowing she feels it. Her nipples harden under the satin, and I know my pupils are dilating as she looks at me and scowls. Her skirt is still rucked up, showing off her amazing legs, with a bit of garter still on show.

She tries to pull it down when she sees Gabe staring, her nostrils flaring as she gives him a full-on glare. It’s the first sign that this may not have been my greatest idea thus far.

“Sounds like I’ve been replaced, Kitten.”

She snorts in disgust at that. “What are you doing here Marcus?” She’s so full of it, cocking her hip at me.

“You won’t answer my calls, so I came over. I assume, as you’ve hosted Xan, you can spare me ten minutes.”

“What’s with the entourage?” She flicks her eyes around the room.

“Well, most haven’t met you. And as James will be coming on tour, I thought it a good idea.”

“I told you not to come. But it seems like no one’s listening to me these days.” She pins Jonno and Jax with a look that could freeze hot wax. “Not sure when we turned into a democracy, I was perfectly happy running a dictatorship.”

Tim starts to laugh and quickly turns it to a cough as she looks his way.

“What’s she doing here?” Evie stares at me, not making any movement to indicate who she is. She doesn’t have to. I already know.

“Isobel wants to apologise.”

She laughs at that, the scoff of disdain—and finality—unmistakable. “Save the breath, not interested, never going to happen.”

When she goes to move away, I touch her to try to stop her. “We need to talk about my party. And James.” She pulls her arm away, as if I’ve burnt her.

“What? You brought them for a demo? Another live sex show?” She points towards Gabe and Isobel. “Should have left your boyfriend at home Marcus. I’m not interested, seen it all before.”

“Damn!” exclaims Xan, “there goes my surprise.”

She smiles at that. Fucking smiles at him. And my blood boils.

“Laughing at your new lover are you?” I snap at her.

She looks at me, her face screwed up into a sneer. “I only licked him. Unlike you, I don’t fuck your band mates.”

Levi snorts at that, and Tim puts his head down. They’re supposed to be backing me up, not laughing with her.

“Go home, Marcus. Make your arrangements. I've told you I’m not interested in getting involved in your lifestyle.” She practically puts air quotes round that last word.

I’m royally pissed now. “You weren’t saying that in December when you were benefiting from ‘my lifestyle’.” I see Jude flinch behind her, and hear the cups clatter onto the worktop. The pack is gathering, closing ranks.

“Marcus, why does any sex with you have to be a spectator sport? I don’t want my sex life discussed in a forum. Besides, it's hardly an exclusive event. Your cock is seen out in public more than the royal family. It’s probably got its own Instagram account and does reels.” She sweeps her arm towards the avid onlookers. “Go home Marcus, and take your lifestyle with you.”

I am steaming angry now. She pisses me off, spouting her truth at any cost. Well, fuck her. “You’re so fucking judgemental,” I shout. “You think you’re so high and mighty, judging me and my friends, well you’re not. You’re fucking nothing. A nobody. You should be fucking grateful I was even interested.”

I’ve got my arms out towards her and I’m shouting, practically in her face. I see her eyes, and it’s as if someone suddenly switched off the light. The room is deathly silent now, and she takes a step back. Her head is down, her cheeks flushed, then she hits me with the same mild, deadly voice James used just before he left me in LA.

“Nothing and a nobody” she repeats quietly. “Rowena said that to me, twice in fact, just before she threw me out of your house when James was a baby. Strange how these phrases get reused. But here’s the thing, Lord Stockton,” she looks me in the eyes, and smiles. And it's the most horrific thing I’ve ever seen. “If I’m nothing and a nobody, why are you here? Why are you trying to call me ten times a day? Why do you need to see me? To talk to me? Curious, don’t you think?”
