Mick laughs, “This is going to be such fun, Marcus.” He’s practically rubbing his hands together. “Will James bring security?”

“Would think so. They track them both around London, they won’t let him go to LA without someone.”

“I can’t find my blazer. I know I had it last night,” I mumble to no one in particular. I’m looking around the suite and go into the living room area near the kitchen, when I see it—a note.

My heart starts to thump away in my chest. What if she wants to see me again? What if she doesn’t want to even talk to me again? Because I’ve blown it by being too aggressive. No, she was into it. That wouldn’t be an issue.

I pick up the note and start to laugh so hard, Xander and Mick come in behind me, likely thinking I’ve finally lost my mind. It’s not really a note, more a rating addressed to K. Five stars drawn underneath the initial but only four and a half filled in. Beneath the stars: E

Xander plucks the paper out of my hand, looks at it, and arches a brow at me. “Losing your touch, brother,” he smirks and starts to laugh, passing the note for Mick to have a laugh at my expense.

Mick cackles like an old hen. “I think I love that woman,” he says.

“She’ll be a dead woman when I catch up with her. Four and a half stars. Kitten is asking for it.”

“Ooooouuhhhh, back to Kitten again. Must have been a good night if you got that far.”

“You’ve no idea, Xan,” I breathe out. “Let’s go harass my family. You joining in?”

“Wouldn’t miss it. Can we kill Giles yet? I’m really bored of him now.”

“Not yet, but soon.” I raise my brows in jest, but rub my hands together. “I wish. Let’s get going.”

Chapter

Sixteen

Evie

All appears quiet when we turn into our square and pull up outside the house. But it is only 7:15 a.m. I'm not expecting anyone to be up.

Tommy comes around and helps me out. I’m moving very gingerly due to my lack of underwear and my limbs starting to protest about all the, um, exercise.

And I could kill for a cup of Yorkshire Tea. Making my way inside, I go straight to the kitchen, nearly bumping into Jude. Smiling at him, I offer, “Just going to make tea, Brown. Want a cup?”

“Yeah,” he says. “Put the kettle on, I’ll just be a sec.”

Totally forgetting the state of my dress, I take off the jacket and hang it on the chair back. I’m just reaching up for two mugs when Jude comes back to take a seat at the kitchen island. He stops part way and stares at my chest.

“What the Fuck, Evie?” he stands and shouts, moving around the island towards me like I’m on fire.

I’m looking around to see what the problem is and realise exactly what it is when he pulls at my wrecked dress, exposing most of my boobs and my shoulders.

He's roaring at me. “What the fucking hell happened to you? Who the fuck did this? Who, Evie? I’ll fucking kill them. What happened?”

I put my arms up towards him to stop him pulling at me anymore and try to straighten the dress, but he’s pulling it away from my body to get the full picture. “No, Jude no.” I’m trying to get my words out to stop him having a heart attack. “It’s not bad, it’s not what you think, nothing bad, Brown, honest.” I’m pleading with him to try to get him calm.

“He did this?” he hisses at me. “He fucking did this.”

“Calm down.” I’m starting to panic. I can see he’s a whisker away from losing it.

“Don’t Brown me, Evie. DID-HE-DO-THIS?” he roars in my face.

Fuck this. I am not having it.

“YESSSSSSSS!” I scream back at him. “And I fucking asked him to.” I’m not being talked to like a kid in my own home. I refuse to be made to feel like I did something wrong.

Jonno rushes into the room followed by Jackson, no doubt lured in by my reaction.
