“Is Mick with you?” she asks, the picture of politeness.

“Yeah, over there.” I point in Mick's general direction and she stands on tip toes to see him over the plants.

“Mick, pop up to the flat.” She gestures to the wrought iron staircase leading to the upper floors. “Tommy’s got food for you both. He can’t stand this fiddly stuff.” Mick waves and heads up.

“Please, take a seat and tuck in. We can chat through what sort of things you want, Kenny. If this space can be repurposed, great. If not, we can look next door. As you can see, I’m moving along the row. There might be a better place that’s not done yet, but we can negotiate.” She grins widely at us.

I smile back, letting Kenny take the lead, going through his requirements, what he wants, what he doesn’t. I watch her take it all in and can see the mind behind the beautiful face. She asks about staff, bands, and how artists use the studios now, what works and what doesn’t.

“Do you think you would need an apartment? It seems a shame not to, it’s a lovely space. I thought you could maybe use it for living accommodation if bands come and stay in one place. I know from James that if they’re working on things they stay late, and just crash. What do you think, Kellen? Do you think it would be worth keeping?”

I nod at her. “Yes, if we have a look at it, we can decide. It seems sensible to have somewhere. If I’m in the middle of something good, I don’t want to leave. And we can be there for hours. I know we have drivers and all that jazz now, but new bands won’t. Also sometimes you just want to chill and then get back to it, so somewhere that can accommodate both would be great.”

I look at her face. She's all professional, focusing on us and the building at hand. It’s a turn on to see her mind at work. To be honest, she is full stop. Who am I trying to kid, being in the same room gets me hard. She’s totally mesmerising. I’m fascinated by her hands, how graceful they are as she’s explaining this building, her whole body is alive. The beautiful fluid movements as she becomes more animated about her work, her buildings. I have to shift in my chair to accommodate my, situation. I hope she misses it, but she probably doesn’t.

“Shall we have a look around, and then we can go next door?” Her dark blue dress is snugly fitted to her body, her perfect tits encased within. It’s knee length, but it may as well be up around her thighs as my mind already has it off and on the floor. The small belt around her waist matches her heels. Kitten heels—very apt. I smile at that as I trail behind her, staring at her arse.

Kenny ducks into an office mock up and she stops, turning to me. “Everything alright? You’re quiet.” She cocks her head at me.

“Yeah, just taking in how amazing all this is. I can see the bits you picked up in France.” I point out some statues.

“Yes, France was good for the connections.” She points to where Kenny has gone. “Do you want to look at the offices?”

“Sure, but to be honest it's studio space I want to see.”

“That’s why I think next door may be better. It has an extension that makes it seem like the outdoors are almost indoors with you. The rooms at the back could be studios and then the outside/inside bit attached to them. You have to decide. I can do whatever you want with the internals as long as it doesn’t compromise the structure.”

We spend the next couple of hours looking at everything. We tour the large building next door, which I love. The glass extension is amazing. To be honest I think this building is better for us. It doesn’t have an apartment as yet, but she says she can put one in.

“Do you want to come back to the apartment next door? See the potential of what it could look like?” She’s still smiling at us both, which is a really good sign.

“I’ll have to be quick,” Kenny tells her, “but, Marcus, could you stay a bit and look longer?”

Kenny I could kiss you, but I respond coolly with, “Sure, no problem. Evie, what are you like for time?”

“I’m ok ‘til 4:30, but then I’ve got a few zoom calls,” she tells us.

“Let’s go then, so Kenny can get a look.”

It’s staggeringly beautiful. I see the evidence of my sons, but I see her in every corner of this apartment. No wonder my boys and their uncles don’t want to leave.

In the end, Kenny stays longer than he wants to. He couldn’t leave, each room was better than the last. I understand how he feels. My smile gets bigger and bigger each step I take.

When he finally leaves, he asks to come back and have another look. He even says he wants Evie to design his home for him. I’m not surprised. How she isn’t some top designer already, I’ll never know.

“Do you want to sit out on the terrace? It’s a nice afternoon and I can set up the heaters if it’s a bit chilly with you just landing from LA.” I nod and move outside, where the glass barriers do not detract from the incredible view of London and the river. “Do you want another drink? Tea or coffee?”

“Coffee,” I call through the floor to ceiling glass doors. I hear the machine start as I sit on the plush settee, watching the river flow alongside us. She comes out with two coffees and sits opposite me on a reclining chair.

“I’m so fucking proud of you,” I tell her. “This place is ridiculous. No wonder you were going apeshit over it.”

She smiles shyly at me. “Thanks, it’s definitely a labour of love.”

After looking out over the river for a few quiet moments, she turns back to me and asks, “Do you think you’ll bother with any of the buildings? I know Kenny really just came because you mentioned it. I think he’d rather you bought, but I’m not ready to sell just yet. Maybe later, though. I just don’t know. So I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up.”

“To be honest, I’m not sure the business budget could swing this. Xan and I would have to cough up cash from our own resources, but then we could.”

She takes that in. “Do you think the space would work? I feel next door would be better, but maybe with an apartment put in.”
