Chapter One

Elara

“Don’t you even dare!” I yell at the Rogues who are attempting to burst into my business and do who knows what, “I get that you THINK that you’re some hot shit and that you’re going to win this, but I can assure you this is NOT a game that you want to play, and I will KILL you if you even try it. Get out of here.”

The lead Rogue just smiles a wicked grin as his eyes trail me up and down, “I don’t know why you’re talking so big when you’re nothing but a weak little wolf. I suggest that you back down and let us do what we want before you end up getting yourself into a bit of trouble. Don’t you think?”

I don’t like the way that he says that, and it makes me feel a bit sick to my stomach, “sure, I don’t know if I can win against all of you but I’m going to try. I’m not one to just back down from a fight and I’m also not going to let you intimidate me into doing something that I’m not comfortable with. So, I suggest you leave me the hell alone and let me get back to what I want to do. Understand?”

I’m quite tempted to knock the shit out of all of them, feeling a bit irritated that it had to come down to this. It’s pretty obvious that these Rogues came here to start something and I’m not going to let it happen. I built this bar with my two hands and I’m not going to let someone destroy it for me. When I see how they look at me, I can only imagine the vile things going on in their head and I’m not going to let them win. I’m not going to let them get very far either because this is just not right. I should not be treated this way when I haven’t done anything to deserve it and there’s no way that I’m going to just back down with everything going on right now.

“Leave my property and don’t come back!” I command of them, hoping that I sound more serious than I feel, “I’m not going to tell you twice. I do have regular customers who would love nothing more than to beat the shit out of you and I would gladly let them. Back off!”

I don’t like this dangerous game that I’m playing but there’s no way for me to hold back. I don’t have a reason to and I’m not going to let them scare me off. I understand what I’m dealing with, and I know it wouldn’t be easy, but this is not some kind of game. This is not something that I should just deal with. If they are going to try to barge into my home, fine, but I’m going to make sure that they regret it.

“The Alpha comes here as well.” I warn them, seeing how this makes them freeze a bit because that is not someone they want to be hearing, “And if he comes by and sees what you have done, you might end up pissing him off and who knows what he might do to you. I’m giving you ONE chance to leave my property, or I will have no choice but to contact him and make sure that he knows precisely WHAT you did. Do you understand me?”

I’m not going to let them scare me off and I’m not going to let them win. If they would honestly think that I would just bow down and let them do what they want to me, that is far from the case, but I have to do something. The Alpha would never come here, it’s not like him. Unfortunately, I’m just not the kind of person that he would even think twice about because I’m not worthy enough to be someone that he would consider protecting. It is just how it is, let me say that.

“I suggest you leave before he shows up or I will have to tell him what you were attempting to do.” I continue on, hoping that they don’t see through my bluff, “I will be nice enough to not tell him precisely what you were trying to do because I can assure you that it will NOT end very well for you at all.”

I know that I’m fibbing, and I don’t know if they are going to believe me. They have no reason to believe me at all and I’m okay with that. I’m playing the kind of game that I’m not sure about and I couldn’t be a hundred percent certain about what I want to happen. It is kind of scary, making me wonder if I’m even going to get out of this alive because Rogues are never known to let us live because they are monsters like that. When I see how they don’t look too sure, I know that any moment, they could come to a decision.

My heart is racing, making me wonder if they could even hear it. I’m sure that they could, making me wonder what would come from it. I couldn’t be certain, my entire body going into overdrive as I’m trying to process my feelings right now. I’m not going to show them fear but when they step towards me, it’s almost too much. That’s when I hear a voice boom through the clearing, making all of us jump.

“What are you doing on my land, Rogues?” He growls softly and when I look up, I am surprised to see Alpha Orson walking towards us and he does not look happy, “let me guess, you thought you would fuck with my people?”

Alpha Orson is very handsome; anyone could see that. He is really tall and muscular with short, curly brown hair and piercing hazel eyes. It’s like he is looking straight into your soul, and it is a bit nerve-wracking because I don’t know how to accept it. I don’t know if I want to accept it because why in the world would he even want to protect someone like me? Someone that he would deem weak.

I guess there’s only one way to find out.

Chapter Two

Orson

“I think that I smell Rogues.” My Beta, Jared, murmurs as he snuffs the air, “It seems like they are after someone, and I don’t know what’ll happen next. I think that we need to be cautious because it seems like they are going to do something. I don’t know but it feels really weird.”

“We will find them.” I murmur, having already been tracking the scent, “They are going to quickly realize how fucked they were coming onto my land.”

Something that pisses me off is when Rogues think that they own the place. I hate it, pissing me off to the point I want to strangle them. It’s nothing that I can deal with, a weird sensation filling me on the inside as I’m trying to figure out what to do next. I don’t know what game is being played but it is clear that I’m going to find out sooner rather than later.

My nerves are completely shot at this point, making me lick my bottom lip as I’m tempted for a lot more. It’s a dangerous game going on right now and I know it is highly possible that this could turn around and bite me in the ass. I continue to follow the scent, feeling like my heart might burst out of my chest if I’m not careful. I’m not sure what to make of any of this because Rogues know better than to show up here.

“I think we are reaching that bar on the outskirts of town with that wolf owner.” Jared tells me although he doesn’t sound too sure, “maybe the Rogues are after her.”

I couldn’t be too sure but when we walk into the clearing, I see a group of Rogues surrounding someone.

“What are you doing on my land, Rogues?” I suddenly speak, feeling a bit pissed that they think they could show up here, “Let me guess, you want to fuck with my people?”

The Rogues immediately look at me, fear on their faces but they are not who caught my attention. I still almost immediately when I see a beautiful woman tensed up, as if she was preparing to fight. She doesn’t seem very tall, dressed in more casual clothing. Her long, straight red hair falls down to her waist and I can see the fear and agitation in her green eyes. She looks at me and I can tell she isn’t too sure about what is happening here.

“I suggest you leave if you know what is best for you.” I murmur, knowing that there’s no way that I’m going to let these bastards stand in my way, “I don’t want to have to kill you.”

The Rogues almost immediately scurry off, knowing they are not supposed to be on my lands in the first place. I turn towards the woman, seeing how she relaxes a little bit but still doesn’t look too sure. I don’t know what her name is, finding myself a bit curious to find out but I also know it is possible that she might want to hold me at a distance. It’s a dangerous game being played right now, and I have no idea what to make of it if I am being honest. I don’t know what she might end up doing but it is very clear to me that this is a game that not everyone might win.

“Are you okay?” I ask her, stepping closer, “my name is Alpha Orson, I’m the leader. What is your name?”

“My name is Elara.” She tells me softly, “I am the owner of the bar.”
