His hand paused. “You wouldn’t.”
She laughed, hugging him. Who would have thought that a little girl could terrify him so much? Nera and Giovanni’s kid was cute, but Vespa liked her in small doses as well. She was glad they agreed when it came to kids. Being an aunt and an uncle was more than enough. “Did I tell you Beatrice’s last treatment worked? She’s pregnant.”
Vespa was happy for Montrell, who was over the moon with giddiness and driving Beatrice crazy.
“That’s good,” Antonio murmured, withdrawing and rolling off the bed to pad to the bathroom. He returned with a warm rag. Antonio was often fastidious with cleaning up his cum, whether it was inside her or he made a very happy mess. At least, he was when she didn’t make him pass out first.
His ministrations soothed her into drowsiness. “I’ll be over there more often for a while. Neither of them can think about anything else, and there are a few things to shore up.”
“Understandable. Let me know if there’s anything I can help with.” When he crossed the room, her gaze followed. She couldn’t help it. Lined up in the bathroom were all her things, and they’d both long since gotten comfortable in each other’s spaces. He’d doubled some of their toys to compensate for the dual residences, but otherwise there’d been no hardship in crashing at either place, almost always together.
When he settled back in bed, he pulled her on top of him, and his hand returned to her hair.
“Alina said I don’t have to wear a dress,” she mumbled.
He leaned forward, kissing her nose and making it wrinkle. “I’m still surprised she wants to marry him.”
“Hey, don’t mess with Luka. He’s my boy.” She worked with Luka more often than Antonio did. They’d become a good team when it came to clearing out any riffraff.
Antonio sighed. “You and Giovanni almost have me convinced he’s worth the trouble.”
She rolled her eyes. Antonio was totally lying again. He often found ways to make things easier on Luka, and he’d realized early on that gifting something to Alina far outweighed anything he could give the assassin. Antonio was subtle about it, but she understood him well.
Just as he understood her.
They would always be there, deep in the mud, protecting the people that were most important to them. Together and messy, just as she’d fought for.
