“I love you, Isabella,” he says quietly, kissing me softly, green eyes peering into mine.

“I love you, Graham.”

When I finally say the words. I say them without any fear. It’s the easiest thing in the world, and when I say them, my entire heart feels whole in a way it never has before.

Epilogue

TWO MONTHS LATER

Graham and I are on vacation together in a place I’ve only dreamed about—Bhutan. We flew here a couple of days ago. He told me he’d make sure to fulfill every single one of my dreams. We already have another trip planned to Iceland in a couple of months. It’s the best place to see auroras. It always amazes me that I fell in love with such a perfect man. I only had to tell him once for him to remember and then work toward making it a reality.

Bhutan has been pretty magical. It’s our last night here and I’m already dreading leaving.

Graham went out of our room at the villa a couple of minutes ago to get something ready. I have no idea what he’s planning, but he’s been acting weird all day. I think it has something to do with the board vote in a week. He’s probably nervous, which is ridiculous. He’s going to win. Anyone with eyes can see he deserves the position.

After the vote, he’s going to move back to D.C., and I’ll be going with him. It’s a pretty big step, but big steps with Graham don’t feel like big steps at all. I’d do anything as long as I got to do it with him. I have qualms about leaving the twins, but their mother’s back and she’s finally in a better place. Plus, they’re only a flight away if I ever need to see them. My boyfriend also happens to have a private jet, which I feel guilty making use of every time I do.

I’m about to go and hunt Graham down when he finally reappears. He enters the room, and one of the villa’s staff rolls in a tray with a bucket of ice, champagne, and two glasses on top of it. I arch an eyebrow at that. The man leaves almost immediately while I turn to my boyfriend.

He looks really nervous.

“Are we celebrating our last night here or something?” I question.

“Not exactly,” he murmurs. “Don’t freak out, Sunshine. Okay?”

I stare at him in confusion. “What are you talking a?—”

The question dies on my lips as Graham gets down on one knee. I gasp, my hand going over my mouth when he pulls out a box. He opens it and sitting in the middle, surrounded by velvet, is a golden ring with a diamond in the center, surrounded by tiny gemstones.

Shock billows through me. “Graham, what are you doing?” I whisper.

He smiles. “What does it look like I’m doing?”

“It looks like you’re proposing. Which is crazy.”

He levels me with a firm look that tells me this isn’t a joke. I exhale softly.

“I can’t believe this is happening.”

“I proposed to you after only a few hours of meeting you, Isabella. Why are you finding it so hard to believe I’d do it now?”

I have to think deeply to remember what he’s talking about. Then it comes to me and my mouth falls open.

“That was only a joke.”

“Yeah, but this isn’t. Come on, baby. Take a chance.”

“We’ve only been dating for three months, you psycho,” I state, my heart thundering in my chest.

He laughs, “Yeah, pretty amazing months. But I’ve known you for longer. I met you for the first time seven months ago, Isabella. I only knew you for five days before you embedded yourself in my mind, body, and soul. I spent every single day the three months we were apart thinking about you, yearning for you. And when I saw you again, a part of me knew that I would never be able to let you go. Because you’re it for me, Isabella. You’re the first thing I think about when I wake up and the last thing on my mind when I fall asleep. You’re like this bright star in my life, constantly shining, and uplifting me in a way I never knew possible. You helped me walk the path to redemption, baby. You helped me become a better man?—”

I sniff as my eyes well up with tears. “Oh god,” I say softly. “Graham, please stop talking.”

But of course, he continues, a smirk on his face.

“You drive me crazy half the time, Sunshine. And the rest of the time, I’m so hopelessly in love with you, it’s equally as insane. I want you, Isabella. I’ve wanted you from the moment I saw you. And I want you every single day of my life,” he finally finishes.

I’m full-on bawling at this point. I place my hands over my face as the tears refuse to stop.
