“He did what?” He booms, then drops the call. The look in his eyes as he glares at Olivia and me is not the same as before. It’s murderous, and I take it that it has something to do with what the caller said. “Thanks to you and your fucking obsession with this petty baker, Ivanov has kidnapped my Sofia right under my fucking nose.”

That son of a bitch.

Chapter Thirty-Four

OLIVIA

“Fuck Damien,” Ronan growls.

“It is all your fault,” Cesare growls.

“What do we do?” The scary man next to him comes closer. “The Bratva and their pakhan have a way of overstepping.”

Liam walks up to us.

“We will get her back, I promise, I will do whatever it takes to get her back,” Ronan reassures him.

“You will get her back?” Cesare flares, and he has every right to. “Since when do you fucking care or keep your fucking word, boy?”

“Enough!” Liam snaps at Cesare.

“My daughter…” Cesare is vibrating so hard I can feel his voice reverberating in my stomach. “My daughter was kidnapped, and it’s all because of you two,” he flips his index finger between Liam and Ronan now, leaving me out of it.

“He is obsessed with Sofia,” I squeak as I remember what he had said to me. “When he was in the container with me, he said his men made a mistake and that she was the one he wanted, not me.”

Cesare cusses in Italian.

“I don’t understand what he wants from her,” Cesare grits.

“Ruth Davis also said he was asking about her being at the wedding. I doubt he would hurt her, ” Ronan says.

“I was never his target, he always wanted her, even before what he did to Barbara” I continue.

“I will give you my full support, Cesare; Sofia is family, and we have an agreement,” Ronan tries to reassure Cesare, who is now climbing down from his anger.

“I expect nothing less from you,” Cesare clicks his teeth. “I want you to use the same energy you used to find the pretty baker to find my daughter. And I want it to happen soon.”

“You have my word,” Ronan says.

Ronan has broken a promise he made to him more than once, and while I want to know what it is, I clip my tongue and let the men sweat it how they normally do.

“I also expect the wedding between Riley and Pietro to happen within the next six months,” Cesare chimes. I scoff at the idea of Riley marrying Pietro.

He clearly also has an obsession with Ronan’s family.

“You have something to say, baker?” Cesare lifts both brows at me.

I chuckle, but remain silent.

Ronan closes the small distance between us and snakes his arm around my waist to nudge me. All the other men are looking at me like I’m a lunatic. Cesare looks like he would toss me into the ocean if he could.

Ronan shakes his head, and I instantly know Riley is getting married to Pietro for real. I want to ask how that is possible, but I respect the signs Ronan is giving me. I can’t ask him that here and now, so I nod and let it slide.

I try for a joke, “Your personal baker is at your beck and call for…”

“You will stay away from the food at that wedding,” Cesare clips, and I nod.

“I’m sorry,” I lift my hand to express my apology. “My bad.” I cringe internally.
