“Alright, I will think about it,” I stand. “Eat now, and I never want to hear you talk about me killing you again,” I clip, and she nods.

“I’m sorry.”

“Make sure you rest.” I want to hold her, feed her, and make sure she rests, but it’s all just too much for me to bear at the moment.

This shit is gnawing at my sanity the longer I think about it.

I need to reboot.

I stalk out of the bedroom and slam the door for effect, the same way I wish I could slam everything out of my head.

Chapter Fourteen

RONAN

Day 4

I take my eyes off the guest lists—the official wedding guest list and the one Liam printed out after seeing thefootage. I let my gaze drift idly over the scene before me.

“The men are getting ready.” Liam sits across from me.

“Take only a few, I don’t want an attention drawn to what we are doing, just in case,” I fill my glass with whiskey and then take a sip.

“I’m taking five men, because it is close to Bratva territory,” he leans back in his seat.

“Search thoroughly,” I reiterate, and he nods.

I asked him to search Olivia’s store. I would have gone myself, but I have a more pressing matter at hand.

There is something I need to fix.

Liam is about to sip straight from the bottle of whiskey when his cell phone starts to ring.

“I guess that’s my cue,” he stands, setting the bottle down. “See you in a minute.”

“Be careful.” There has been a strange wave moving around lately, and until we figure it out, we all have to tread cautiously.

He nods quietly and leaves.

I wait until I hear the sound of cars driving out of the compound. Then, when I’m sure they are gone, I stand and set off to indulge a little in my newest addiction.

It seems to be growing like a vine around my heart lately.

I must acknowledge that I enjoy watching her. But I’m killing two birds with one stone.

I’m satisfying my cravings and am also keeping a watch on her, making sure she is safe and properly taken care of.

I push the door of the security room open and go in, the monitor already displaying her bedroom.

She has not been eating. She didn’t eat all yesterday, although I didn’t notice until this morning. I thought there were empty dishes lying around on the carts until I bumped into the chef, who told me she hadn’t eaten anything since yesterday.

She seems uninterested but looks famished.

She will die faster than the poison could have killed her at this rate.

What’s the problem?

My phone rings in my pocket and I take it out to see it’s a call from one of my men, followed by a knock on the door.
