The color in his cheeks grew darker, mottling. “You didn’t.”

“Oh, I definitely did. You want to talk about being a sicko? I would stand outside the bathroom door just to listen to you shower. Couldn’t begin to count how often I jerked off right there in the hallway while imagining you washing your body.”

“Oh my God, Drake.” He gulped, his pupils swelling.

“I even got lucky enough to hear you jacking yourself—twice in the shower and at least a dozen times while hunkered outside your bedroom door when our parents slept.”

“Jesus.” Preston threw his arm over his face, but I pulled his wrist, pinning it beside his head so he couldn’t hide from me.

“Hey.”

He blinked open those gorgeous green eyes and managed to hold my gaze. At least I now understood why he couldn’t stand to look at me for longer than a few seconds and why he’d been quick to wipe the feel of me off his sweaty palms.

“I made you nervous back then. Did you ever hate that about me?”

“Never,” he hastened to assure me, shaking his head. “You’re just so damned potent. Hot. The muscles. Your Cupid’s bow.” His gaze dropped to my mouth, and I rubbed my tongue over my upper lip.

“What about it?”

“Iwannalickit,” he murmured, the words rushing into one.

“Then do it,” I said with a smirk, lowering my face so he wouldn’t have to make much of a move to take what he wanted.

A delicious whimper I’d gotten off to a thousand times leaked from his mouth. Blood rushed to my dick at the sound.

Rather than lifting his head to kiss me like I’d expected, he flicked his tongue out to literally lick my upper lip.

“Taste good?” I asked, still smirking.

“More.”

As if I could deny Preston.

I settled in and kissed him. Explored his mouth while running my fingers through his thick, wavy hair. Gentleness replaced the hunger from earlier, but that didn’t stop either of us from seeking out more friction.

He panted against my mouth, clutching at my back as we rutted against each other.

Lust to sink into his tight heat, stroke inside his ass until we both exploded raged through me, but I kept hold of my need.

Like I’d said, we could be rescued at any second, and while I would have loved to flaunt what I did with Jacqueline’s son, Preston coming out to his biological mom had to be his doing. His choice and at his time.

And while he’d changed slightly from the young man I remembered, I wasn’t sure he would ever find the balls to tell his truth.

Nor did I have any desire to wreck my dad’s marriage. Because not a single doubt rested in my head that Jacqueline would make my dad’s existence a living hell if he refused to cut me out of his life like she would demand.

Preston and I were both stuck. Emotionally glued to each other and yet unable to freely live our truth. Want who our hearts longed for. Love…

I sighed, closing my eyes while my lips lingered on his.

Preston was the one man I could see myself settling down with. The only partner I would allow myself to be vulnerable to future hurt at our sure end.

But we could never be to begin with.

The reminder sobered me, and I slowed our kisses until I pulled away, soothing his hair off his forehead. His hungry gaze tempted me to dive back in, to take everything he would give once lost to passion, but the possible consequences once more made me pause.

Later.
