“Cassius, stop!” I tried to drag him off, but he was out of his mind.

All hell broke loose. Security swarmed us, trying to pry Cassius off the man. Sterling and Rhodes Blackwood appeared out of nowhere and descended on their brother, pulling him back.

“Cass! What the fuck? Get off him!” His brothers somehow got him up and dragged him away. Rhodes grabbed my wrist. “You’re coming, too.”

They hustled us from the dungeon, away from the crowd’s curious stares and worried whispers. We ended up in another office on the lower level. Sterling locked the door behind us, then whirled on his brother in frustration. “Really, Cass? You’re punching patrons now?”

Cassius shrugged unapologetically. “He had it coming.”

Sterling scratched his head. “Did he? Or are you just marking your territory?”

“I think you both should both go back to your party and mind your own goddamned business.” Cassius straightened his shoulders. He didn’t look at me when he said, “This is between me and Faith.”

“Not anymore, it’s not.” Rhodes crossed his arms against his chest. “You just beat the crap out of one of our patrons right in the middle of a club party. It’s about all of us now. What’re we supposed to tell the members?”

“Nothing,” Cassius said. “It’s none of their damn business.”

“But it is,” Rhodes insisted. “What you did goes against club rules. We aren’t allowed to pick favorites, and we aren’t allowed to have more than three consecutive interactions with any employee.”

“Don’t fucking quote me to me,” Cassius seethed. “I wrote the rules. I certainly know them.”

“So why do you keep breaking them?” Sterling asked.

“Like I said, that’s my private affair,” Cassius said.

“It’s not private anymore,” Sterling said. “You have to buy out Faith’s contract, or she has to be fired. You decide.”

“Don’t you dare tell me what I have to do or talk about firing her?—”

“Cass, I get it, but calm down.” Rhodes shot both of his brothers a look.

“I think we’re sending the wrong message if we fire Faith,” he continued. “The other girls will think they’re vulnerable if one of the patrons gets obsessed with them.”

Cassius practically had smoke pouring out of his ears. “I’m not obsessed?—”

“Brother, please,” Sterling interrupted. “That’s debatable, and the time to debate it isn’t now. We’ve got a real problem on our hands.”

Sterling turned to Rhodes. “I appreciate your point. We shouldn’t punish Faith or other girls by firing them for something like this. They’re our employees, and we need to protect them.”

Rhodes nodded. “I agree.” He turned back to Cassius. “Are you in agreement as well?”

“Of course,” Cassius said. “Faith shouldn’t be punished for my actions.”

“But she should be compensated,” Sterling interjected. “No one else in the club will touch her after this. That’s not fair to her.”

A heavy silence fell over the room.

“You know what that means,” Sterling said.

The three brothers looked at each other. They seemed to know exactly what it meant.

I, however, did not.

Cassius’s expression turned grim. But a slight smirk settled on Sterling’s face. “We’ll leave you two to figure it out,” he said.

Rhodes winked at us. “Have fun.”

They left without another word.
