“I kept checking for updates on the order until it let me know that you’d been shipped from DJD Clone Corp. I tracked what transport you were on and attacked it. I stole you before you could reach Clone World and brought you onboard my shuttle. Are you angry?”

Chapter Three

Tears filled Anna’s eyes. Fig flinched. He didn’t expect her to be overly thrilled after finding out that he’d had her remade into a clone, but he’d never wanted to cause her pain.

“You hate me. I’m so sorry. I just hoped you’d take it well since you were so accepting of me.”

“I’m a clone? Is that what you’re telling me?”

“Yes. You have a cloned body. Your memories were transferred into it. I know some humans debate about having one of those soul things, but you didn’t seem to feel any different until I told you what had been done. You’re still you, Anna. If souls exist, you have kept yours. It’s just that you’ve got a new and improved body to house it inside. Please try to remain calm as that information sinks in. Don’t panic.”

She wiggled her arm, and he eased his hold on the blankets. She stopped moving. “Am I still old?”

“You said thirty was your best year. I asked the company to lock you in at that age.” He studied her beautiful face. “You appear a few years younger than that, though, but as a clone, they probably didn’t want you to have any beginning wrinkles since some humans start to form those around that age.”

More tears flooded her eyes, and they slipped down her cheeks.

“You’re beautiful, Anna. Your hair is still almost white. I had imagined it may have been darker in color in your youth. I was wrong.”

Her gaze locked with his. “Is this a joke? Are you playing a prank? I know you young people love to do that to each other.”

“No. I am being completely honest. You’re now a clone.”

She held completely still.

“Say something, Anna.”

“I’m afraid to look at any part of me.”

“It’s okay. Just take it as slow as you need. I know this has come as a deep shock for you.”

She slid one arm out from under the covers and stared at her hand. Anna turned it over. “Oh my lordy.” She jerked the other one out from under the cover and wiped at the tears that started to stream down her face, staring at both of her exposed limbs.

“Take it easy,” he urged, worried about her reactions.

She startled him when she sat up suddenly and threw the covers off her upper body. Anna grabbed her breasts, peering down at them. Fig gaped a little over watching her squeeze them through the thin material.

Anna eased her hold on them and slid her hands over her stomach. “Is there a mirror?”

He stood and walked over to the entertainment screen wall. It only took a few seconds to turn it on and program the entire surface to be reflective. “Here.”

Anna wiggled and kicked the covers off her legs. Her gaze locked on her thighs, and she touched them, too, as she got out of bed. The standard clone factory outfit consisting of a half-shirt and boy shorts didn’t hide much of her skin.

“Anna? Are you okay?”

She lifted her chin and stared at him. “Are you kidding?”

He winced at her sharp tone.

She got off the bed and stepped around him. Fig turned his head to watch her take in the sight of herself as a clone. Anna pressed close to the glass and ran her hands all over her face. More tears spilled down her cheeks, but she didn’t seem bothered by that anymore; she just let them flow.

“Oh my lordy,” she whispered.

“Try to remain calm.” Fig realized that he should have kept a sedative inside his bedroom in case she panicked or took the news badly. It wasn’t a good sign that she kept repeating herself.

“I’m anything but calm. Oh. My. Lordy.” She grabbed the lower edges of the half-shirt and tore it upward, just tossing it aside.

Fig’s jaw dropped open as he stared at her bared breasts. She cupped them with both hands again and spun to face him, but her attention remained on the mirror. Anna seemed fixated with her backside in the form-fitting white booty shorts.
