It was magic, pure and unbridled.

And as the glow around us slowly faded, the feeling of the kiss remained, burning brightly, a beacon in the dreamworld and beyond.

* * *

With the remnants of our ethereal kiss still tingling on my lips, I opened my eyes, half-expecting to be still surrounded by the iridescent forest.

Instead, I was greeted by a familiar view.

Trees with green leaves, the sun shining brightly overhead, and the distant sound of city life.

I blinked, trying to adjust to the shift.

It felt as if I had been jerked from one world into another without any warning.

The softness of grass tickled my bare feet, honeysuckle wafting through the air, tinged with the unmistakable hint of rain.

It was Earth.

More specifically, it was the park near my childhood home.

Beside me, Tix looked around with curiosity. “Where have you taken us?” he asked.

I swallowed the sudden lump in my throat. “Home,” I whispered.

The last time I’d been in this park was before the abduction before everything had turned upside down.

It felt surreal.

The distant sound of children laughing and the faint chirping of birds.

A flood of memories threatened to overwhelm me.

Without realizing it, my feet carried me to a familiar spot — a secluded area surrounded by tall hedges where the sun created dappled patterns on the ground.

A hidden paradise within the vast park.

“This is where…” My voice trailed off as memories surged forth. “This is where I had my first kiss.”

The bittersweet tinge of nostalgia mixed with the fresh smell of the Earth grounded me, connecting me to this place.

Tix’s gaze softened.

He reached out, placing his fingertips gently against my temple. “Picture him. The boy you kissed. Remember every detail.”

Closing my eyes, I dove deep into the recesses of my mind, conjuring up the image of a lanky teenager with a mischievous smile, freckles scattered across his nose, and hazel eyes that always sparkled with mischief.

I remembered the fluttery feeling in my stomach, the nervous anticipation, and the electrifying touch of our lips meeting for the first time.

When I opened my eyes, I gasped.

Standing in front of me wasn’t Tix, the dreamwalker with his unique charm and power.

Instead, it was him.

The boy from my past.

Everything was the same — the freckles, the twinkling hazel eyes, even the slight crookedness of his smile.
