Just five years earlier, I’d worn the same dopey expression on my face and it had led to the biggest problems of my entire life…

FIVE YEARS EARLIER

Ohara didn’t take his eyes from mine as he carried me down the hallways toward his cell.

He didn’t take his eyes from mine when he turned each corner, seeming to know instinctively where they were and how many to take. He didn’t pay attention to the cheers and whoops and claps on the shoulder from the other inmates we passed.

He didn’t even need to remove a hand to reach down and open his cell door. He kicked it open. Then he kicked the door shut and placed me lovingly on his bed.

He immediately set to removing his clothes and I marveled as, layer by layer, he revealed his gorgeous chiseled frame that was lean and hard from use. His scales shone in the harsh overhead lights, glinting like diamonds.

He made a pained expression when he removed his undershirt and I shot up into a sitting position.

“You’re hurt…” I said, probing at his arm.

“It’ll be all right,” he said.

“Lay down,” I said, patting the bed beside me.

He did, and I shifted so he was more comfortable.

I ran into the bathroom and soaked a towel in cold water and hurried back to his side. I dabbed at his arm where he seemed to flinch the hardest.

“It’s… nothing,” he said.

I pressed the towel to his upper arm and he clenched his teeth, but it soon passed.

I marveled at his scales. They were hard and bulbous like tiny bubbles, or the armor plates of an armadillo, only very smooth to the touch. I loved them.

It was like picking up one of those perfectly polished pebbles at the beach that you kept in your pocket and rubbed every time you felt anxious.

Next, I raised the towel to his face and dabbed at his bruised brow, his cut lip, his red cheeks. And gazed into his gorgeous caramel eyes. Those things could suck you in and never let go if you let them.

And I let them.

I leaned forward and pressed my lips to his. It was the first alien kiss I’d ever experienced.

It felt different from kissing a man. His lips were firmer, like those of his scales, and so smooth that they might have been carved from ice.

He responded to my kiss by sucking gently on my lips and letting me trail my tongue against his sharp teeth. I’d never noticed them before, or the powerful fangs that extended at the front corners.

I dropped the towel without realizing it and lay on top of him. I felt the long rod in the front of his pants pressing against me and couldn’t help but run my hands over the etched muscles of his honed chest and abs. I’d always wanted my own set, and now I had them!

He paused and pulled back a moment and spoke gently:

“You don’t have to do this,” he said. “I Claimed you, but you don’t belong to me.”

“Oh, okay then,” I said, climbing off him. “I’ll just head back to the Prize Pool…”

I took in his shocked expression, the hunger still visible in his eyes. I slapped him on the shoulder. “That’s for your little trick of choosing another Prize earlier.”

He threw back his head and laughed. “Then from now on, I will only ever say what I truly mean.” Then he fixed me with those hungry caramel eyes of his. “I want you. All of you. And I want you now.”

I fluttered my eyes and peered down at him. “Your wish is my command… my Champion.”
