JETT

She stared at us like she was scrutinizing each one of us. Her dark eyes familiar to our girl’s but different. Elena’s brown eyes were wider, meaner. But maybe that had to do with the fact she was older and had gone through hell and back.

“We love her, Elena.” Malcom’s deep voice sounded steady and deep, but I could make out the masked worry in his tone.

It had been two months since we went to Club Sin and the official start of us being a foursome. Due to scheduling and some drama with Elena’s ex, we hadn’t been able to meet her, but she'd come over this weekend. We were barbecuing, and the kids were currently in the pool with Rosie.

“You better.” She crossed her arms and leaned against the kitchen counter.

I’d thought everything was going well, but when she found us in the kitchen, she’d wanted to have a heart-to-heart, and I appreciated her honesty.

“Rosie is… she’s the best and she deserves the best. Now, I don’t know if being with three guys is that, but I’m not stupid. I’ve seen her with you guys. She’s happy. I just don’t want you to be playing some weird kind of game.”

“We’re not,” I cut in. Her eyes met mine head-on. It was crazy to see her up close. I’d seen pictures of Rosie and Elena next to one another on Rosie’s social media, but like this, with her long hair held back, Elena could be Rosie’s twin, not just her older sister. The only way to make them out was because Elena was a smidge shorter and wore glasses and her hair was longer than our princess'.

“We love her, Elena. We will do anything to make her happy.”

“Good.” Her arms dropped, and a playful smile pulled at her lips. “I know this is cliché, but she’s my best friend and sister. I want her happy. After my life… well, you guys know, when everything imploded in my face, Rosie dropped everything, and I mean everything, in California to help me. She took the job with you guys to help me, too. There isn’t anyone better than my sister.”

“We know.” Cassey nodded. “She’s not working for us anymore, but there isn’t anything we wouldn’t do to help her make any dream she might have come true.”

“She told me you guys mentioned her getting her real estate license?”

“Yes.” Mal nodded. “We think she would be great at it.” She had already enrolled in classes, but I didn’t think it was pertinent. Roise would share with her sister when she was ready.

“I think you’re right,” Elena agreed, and the three of us stilled and stared at her. It was obvious we had thought she wouldn’t have liked the idea. “She was thinking about going into real estate in California before she moved here,” Elena shared, and we looked at one another.

“She didn’t mention that,” Mal mumbled, and I could see the wheels spinning in his head. More than likely, he was thinking about punishing her for keeping that a secret.

“She wouldn’t have.” Elena shrugged and glanced out toward the pool. We had a clear view of Rosie and the kids swimming and giggling. “Like I said, Rosie’s the best. But she’s way too giving of herself. After what happened with me…” Her eyes dropped with shame, and I frowned. Rosie’s sister had nothing to feel bad about. “She dropped everything. Her life, her friends, her dreams… She was so gung-ho about helping me, those things fell to the side.”

“Timing is everything.” I shrugged, and she smiled.

“Yeah.” She nodded. “You’re right about that.” She picked up the glass of wine she had been drinking and took a sip. “Not that you need it, but I want you to know, I approve. I’m happy for her and for you guys.” The air around us changed. “But you ever hurt her, they won’t find your bodies.” She winked and with a giggle walked out.

“She was kidding, right?” Case asked, and Mal coughed.

“I’m not going do anything to test her,” Malcom muttered. I agreed with a grunt.

“That ready?” I asked, pointing at the steaks Mal had seasoned.

“Yeah.”

“Good. Come on, we gotta feed our girl.”

“Sounds good to me.”

We walked out together, and when Rosie's eyes met mine, I felt more complete and content in my life than I had ever imagined possible.

Never in a million years would I have thought one of us, much less the three of us, with one woman. Life was full of surprises, and I couldn’t wait to see what kind of domestic bliss our future had in store.

As long as Rosie was ours and we were hers, we could handle any storm.
