“Back corner.” He nods to the area behind me, but still has a hold of my wrist.

“I need my arm,” I whisper, and he hesitates, but then releases me – the warmth he provided suddenly gone, making me shiver.

I shake it off and turn to get Cassie’s attention, but she’s too wrapped up in Vinny’s brother to feel my silent plea for her to look up so I can signal her to meet me in the bathroom.

Dammit.

I need to tell her who the man she’s with is.

I need to tell her that these brothers are dangerous to get close to, even for a single night. And then I need her to tell me that it doesn’t matter. That a night with them would be worth whatever comes after.

Fuck. I’m in trouble.

I take slow, deliberate steps towards the bathroom, and once inside, I lean against the closed door, closing my eyes.

The quiet of the bathroom is a shock to my system and all I hear is the pounding of my heart in my ears.

Opening my eyes, I look at my reflection in the mirror across the way and see a wound-up woman in need of a night where she doesn’t have to worry about anything besides feeling whatever it is Vinny will make her feel. Make me feel.

The thought of having more of Vinny’s hands on me, all over me, has my heart quickening and my core clenching. I take a deep breath and wait for my heart rate to slow again and my head to clear, which allows me to hear my phone vibrating in my purse.

I pull it out to find five texts from my mom and just as many missed calls. My stomach sinks. Three calls are from her, but two are from Atlantic City General Hospital.

What the hell?

My finger trembles as I tap my mom’s name and bring my phone to my ear, clenching it so tight, I hope it doesn’t crack.

“Lexi, you haven’t answered my calls,” my mom says in a rush. “Where have you been?”

“Nonno insisted I go out, so I did. I just saw you called. What’s going on?”

“He’s in the hospital.”

“What?!” I exclaim, panic seizing me. “What happened?”

“There was a robbery. That’s all I know.”

“Okay, I’m leaving now. Are you going to meet me there?”

“No, honey, I’m in Miami on a business trip with Charles.”

“Fine. I have to go,” I say in a rush.

I hang up and push the door open to escape, but slam into it.

Dammit.

I pull the handle instead and make a hasty exit, beelining for Cassie.

Chapter 3

Vinny

She knows who I am and her first instinct was to walk away. That’s new…

That’s new and I fucking love it.

Women always want something from me. My money, my dick, the bragging rights of being with a real-life made man, and sometimes even the chance to be Mrs. Carfano despite none of them knowing what that would truly entail.
