CHAPTER ELEVEN

KENNEDY

They introduced themselves to Franco while ignoring Quinn and me. It wasn’t anything we weren’t used to.

“Are you an acquaintance of our father, Anders?”

“No, I’m here with my wife Kennedy.” Franco’s eyes landed on me.

My half-sisters faces fell briefly. They tore at each other’s arms playfully, bubbling with ugly laughter. “Awe, she paid you to be her fake husband at a family function,” Isadora said through a framed smile, pushing her fake honey blonde hair over her shoulder.

“Poor Kennedy,” Keziah tsked. “I told you it would be hard for you to find a man.”

I tilted my head to the side. “And why was that again?” I asked.

“Girl, you know why. You don’t look like us.” She flashed her perfect white teeth while batting her long eyelash extensions.

Bonnie’s nostrils flared from her position across the room. Now wasn’t the time for any of us to react.

My wedding ring glinted under the lights as I popped a grape into my mouth.

They gravitated to my hand like vultures. Their eyes bulged.

“How many carats?” Isadora asked.

“Fifteen,” I said, snatching my hand away like they were lepers.

Keziah patted my arm. “It’s sad, really. You brought a look alike Chris Hemsworth as your fake husband. And you rented a wedding ring.”

“Talk about tacky.” Isadora shook her head, staring at Keziah.

“You belittling bitches, get the fuck out of my presence!” I spat.

A chuckle fell from Quinn’s throat. Bonnie burst into laughter next.

My half-sisters' eyes widened.

“No need to be nasty,” Isadora pressed her hand against her pearl necklace.
