She hesitated, glancing at Kennedy.
“It’s ok. We’re engaged. She deserves to know everything that’s happening,” I stated.
“Very well. Two trucks pulled up. They were watching us,” Bonnie said.
I smirked. “Were they now?”
CHAPTER TEN
KENNEDY
My fingertips grazed the pink peonies leaning over the wooden railing. A smile took my lips as much as it pained me to do so. I was aware this was a special moment in my life. But my return home without informing my father wouldn’t go over well.
“Of course, we’re being watched. My father and uncle are aware of almost everyone who enters Texas. By bus and especially by aircraft. If Quinn’s at my father’s house, he probably told them I was coming to town.”
Dad preferred to hear it from my lips that I was coming home to visit. I peered at the stunning ring gracing my finger. It was so beautiful. There weren’t any girlfriends I could call and gush about how special my proposal was. A woman with a past like mine didn’t do friends. The moment I stepped foot on Texas soil, the woman I used to be came back like a Transformer ready for war. Now that Bonnie confirmed we had company, I was on high alert.
“Once we arrive in San Antonio, I need to stop by my warehouse and pick up a few things. It can be our central hub while we’re here.”
“Sounds good,” Franco affirmed. “Bonnie, we’re ready for the photographer. After the photo shoot, send our backup transportation to the designated area at the rear entrance of the garden.”
My lips parted. What, Franco was ready?
“Will do, sir.”
Bonnie grabbed my hand and marveled at the ring. “It’s absolutely stunning. Congratulations.”
A smile lifted my cheeks. “Thank you, Bonnie.”
“You’re welcome.I knew you were the right woman for my friend.” She winked, then pulled me into her embrace.
Over the last few weeks, we’d gotten along well. I was lucky to have her in my life.
She stepped back and placed my clutch in my hand. “Welcome to our crazy family.”
