He pointed his flute at Bonnie. “We’re not playing in the same room. You won’t take all my money again.”

She chuckled behind the decorative mask. “Boss, what can I say? I learned from the best.”

“Franco, I need real food.” I smoothed a hand over my belly.

“We can grab carryout wherever you’d like after I make an appearance at the club.”

I snatched two shrimp hors d'oeuvres off a passing tray. “Anywhere, huh?” I bit into the spicy shrimp. The herbs exploded in my mouth.

“If it’s vegan, I won’t eat it. We’ll stop at two restaurants if that’s the case.”

“I know just the place,” I smirked.

CHAPTER FIVE

KENNEDY

Franco sat beside me in the spacious back seat of the Rolls Royce Phantom. After whipping the mask off his gorgeous face, he grabbed a bottle of whiskey from the minibar, then poured the contents into two crystal glasses.

“Here.” He placed the glass of whiskey in my hand. Slowly, I also removed my mask, placing it on the center console.

“Thought this might take the edge off from earlier.” Franco gulped half the contents in his glass.

I brought the glass to my lips and let the spicy notes linger on my tongue.

My brows lifted. “This is smooth.”

“Don’t try to change the subject?”

“Why did you do that, Franco?”

Clip kept his eyes on the road.

“I wondered if you had a problem torturing bad men. It appears you don’t.”

“Franco, I told you I left that life behind.”
