“You didn’t really love her. If you did the second you realized she was at the club, you would’ve told Lungy to pull back.”

“How could I?” he bit out.

“You had me under your thumb at the fucking poker table. I never stopped loving her. It hurt deep down to let her go.”

His head hung low. “I also couldn’t stop hurting her. I’m so fucked up.”

I shook my head. “You are. How many women did you kill accidentally?”

Tears filled his gray eyes. “What?”

“You heard me. How...many?” I yelled.

He cried like a baby. “Four,” he whispered.

I placed my ear closer to his busted lips. “Louder.”

“Four!” he shouted.

Staggering back, eyes wide, I blinked a few times, letting his words sink in. If Kennedy hadn’t told him she was done with the violent sex, he would’ve killed her.

My rage consumed me, turning me into a wild beast.

“How could you fix your mouth to say you couldn’t stop hurting her?”

My gloved hand slammed into his jaw. “You’re disgusting.”

I grabbed a knife out of my black cargo pants pocket and rammed it into his chest.

“Ah,” he cried.

“She’s a sweet, loving woman,” I roared as my fists pounded his face.“Die, you piece of worthless shit!” My voice sounded strained.

“Kennedy brought me back from eternal darkness.”

I didn’t let up. “I almost died six years ago. My best friend saved my life. Now I get a chance to love again. I’ll spend the rest of my life making Kennedy happy. That’s what will bring me joy. All I want is a family with her.”

Stalking backward, chest heaving, I stared at my handy work. Blood poured from his eyes, nose, and mouth.

I stretched out my hand. “Gas can,” I croaked.

Clip placed the can in my hand. I tossed gasoline onto Duke’s battered body. “This world will be a better place without your sick ass. Woman killer.”

Duke’s chest barely rose and fell.

“Burn in hell,” I growled as I tossed the Bic lighter at his feet.

Violently, his body thrashed against the tree as the flames consumed his flesh. His screams brought joy to my heart.

“Burn, Duke!”

Kennedy threaded our fingers and exhaled. “Franco, let’s go home.”

Another DeLuca enemy wiped off the face of the earth.

I planted a kiss on the side of her head. “Yes, Mrs. DeLuca. Let’s go home so I can take care of you.”

Laughter poured from her throat as she tugged me with her. “I look forward to my husband taking care of me tonight,” Kennedy purred.
