EPILOGUE

ZANDER

Vicky and I married two months after she gave birth to our twin boys, Cooper and Caleb.

Her grandfather, Harrison, insisted we have our wedding on their ranch.

It was a tradition in their family.

Encasing her lips after the minister said I could kiss my bride; I wasted no time sweeping her lips with mine.

“Finally, you’re my wife, Mrs. Victoria Anna Marshall.”

“Yes, Mr. Marshall.”

We turned to our guests. They stood, cheering. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Our love was one of a kind.

Hayden and I became best friends again like we were in high school. He was like a brother to me. Happy we worked out our differences.

Vicky returned to work part-time after our honeymoon. She ran Gaster Enterprises from her home office.

In September the following year, we welcomed our daughter Anna into the world. Our home was full of life. Babies crying, Jackie’s barking, and plenty of laughter. Every day was better than the last.

I stepped down as CEO becoming the COO of our architecture firm. Owen stepped into my position. Family was most important to me. Not my work. There was no way I’d miss out on one moment with my family. They deserved a father and a mother who were whole.

Maple sausage filled the air. I strolled down the hall, stepping into the boy’s bedroom. Toy airplanes hung from the ceiling.

“Cooper, Caleb, wake up. Mommy’s cooking breakfast.”

They sat up in their beds, rubbing their little blue eyes. I ran my hand over their dark curly, wild hair. Scooping them up into my arms, I kissed their foreheads. “Daddy loves you both.”

“Love you, daddy,” Cooper smiled.

“Daddy, I love you, too,” Caleb said.

I grinned, peeking into Anna’s bedroom. Her crib was empty.

She must’ve been downstairs with Vicky.

We walked down the stairs and into the kitchen.

“Good morning! My two favorite ladies are cooking.”

Vicky’s hair was piled on top of her head. She wore a pink T-shirt and shorts. Sexy as always.

She smiled. “Good morning, Zander, Cooper and Caleb. Mommies three favorite guys.”

“Mommy’s cooking,” Cooper stated.

“Good, because we’re hungry, right?”

“Yeah, Caleb and Cooper,” replied. I sat them on the long red bench at the kitchen table.

The twins were three and Anna was twenty-one months, we had our hands full. A part-time nanny assisted us through the week. The weekends were our time alone with the kids. We were a close-knit family. Anytime Vicky and I wanted a night out, our parents were eager to assist.

I planted a kiss on Anna’s forehead.
