“Where the fuck have you been?” I demand.

“Vegas. This is my wife, Pilar," he says with pride. I quickly pull her into a hug. I'm a little jealous that he's already gotten married.

“Bienvenido a la familia Valladares, cuñada,” I say releasing her quickly.

“Gracias, cuñado,” Pilar says giggling.

“Did you need something, Junior?” Benny asks.

“My future father-in-law is a dead man. He’s gone back on the arrangement and my fiancée is seeing red. She has ordered him dead and will be taking over.”

“Boss?” Benny questions. Rightfully so. I am sure that I am not making any sense.

“You are coming with me. Get your gear.”

“Yes, of course. Pilar can help.”

“Whatever you think is best. We leave in twenty minutes.”

“Meet you at the truck,” he says taking Pilar’s hand and leading her up the stairs.

Luis Abrantes will regret crossing me. Twenty-five minutes later, we are almost to the Abrantes compound.

“You deal with these fucks. I’ll handle the rest," I order before

running up the grand staircase. I hear shouting as I hit the landing and bullets from below. Following the shouts, I come to a partially opened door.

"You little whore. You brought shame on your family. Did you

bring this man to kill us? Who do you think you are? I should have had you killed when I had your whore mother killed," Luis shouts, bits of spittle flying from his mouth.

"My mother wasn't a whore and the only person to bring shame down on us is you," Carmen replies calmly.

"That's where you're wrong, Carmencita. She broke our marriage vows with her bodyguard. Had the nerve to ask me for a divorce. I had them both killed."

"While I watched in horror. I saw everything. You broke your marriage vows too. I saw you with Celia, the maid."

"Men don't keep marriage vows, Carmen. Don't forget that.

There are different rules for men and women. Sadly, you won't see them," he says drawing his gun. I draw both of mine and push the door open so hard it slams against the wall, startling Luis but not Carmen. She just smiles serenely.

"That's where you're wrong, Father. Very wrong." She pulls a knife from her thigh-high boot and flings it at him. It lands deep in his chest. Blood pools around the blade.

He's dead before he even hits the ground.
