She grabbed a pair of handcuffs and hooked them to her belt loop, flashing me a mischievous grin. “Motherfucking jailbait.”

I giggled as she pranced around my bedroom, waving her jello shot around like she was about to give a speech. “Who me?” she cooed. “Why, I’m the sheriff’s daughter. Please don’t tell my daddy I’m drinking tonight.” She batted her fake glittery eyelashes at me as she licked the top of the purple jello.

I burst out laughing. “I really hope you get laid tonight. That outfit is too fucking hot to go to waste.”

Her smile fell. “Yeah, well, we both know that’s not on the agenda for tonight.”

My stomach knotted. Getting drunk and flirting with cute boys was all we used to look forward to on Halloween. “I know…”

I walked to the mirror and smoothed my blonde strands back into a low bun before tying the strings of my fox mask around my head. The brown fur covered only half of my face, sweeping across my nose and cheekbones, up around my eyes and forehead, and ending in two pointy ears at the top. I glided a thick layer of sparkly gloss across my lips and made a pop sound as I puckered.

“Your turn.” I handed Maureen a black lace half-mask.

She tapped her heel against the floor as she put it on. “We’re really doing this.”

I nodded and handed her another shot. I held mine up, the red jello jiggling in the thin paper cup. “Here’s to getting payback.” I nudged my cup against hers before knocking it back.

She nodded. “An eye for an eye.”

A deep twisted dread snaked through my bones. “A soul for a soul.”

Maureen shuddered. “Where will your guys be tonight?”

“Close by. You won’t see them, but they’ll be watching.” I slipped my knife—the knife Saint put in my overnight bag—into my boot before zipping it up to my knee.

Maureen cracked the bedroom door open and poked her head out before closing it again. “People are starting to arrive. I can hear them.”

I let out a deep breath. “Well, then let’s get the lights dimmed and the music cranked up. Come on, we’ve got a party to host.” Despite the fact that I was going to murder two people, I still wanted to show Wickford Hollow the best fucking time of their lives.

We stood at the top of the stairs and looked down at the guests arriving. I no longer had that sinking sensation of déjà vu. Now that I knew it was Billy who pushed me down these stairs two years ago, I descended with confidence. Because he was no bogeyman, just a privileged rich boy who abused women.

Maureen’s eyes widened as she took in the scene. “Holy shit, Bales. You really outdid yourself.”

We paused midway down the stairs as I took it all in. “Let them see how much of a freak I really am.”

I had created the entire foyer to look like a graveyard. Maureen spotted the headstone at the bottom of the stairs and snorted. “Nice one.” The words, RIP Bailey Bishop were etched into it.

The house was mostly dark with only a few wall sconces lighting the halls. By the front door, I’d placed a basket of glow sticks for my guests. I grabbed one for each of us and led us deeper into the house.

The walls were covered with fake blood. Chains hung from the ceiling, hooked to slabs of meat. Skeletons perched in every corner next to giant pumpkins, demonic faces carved into them. And every window was covered with blackout shades. No one would be able to see in or out.

In the sitting room, a giant fire blazed in the hearth. Three girls dressed as the Sanderson sisters giggled at the bar as they waited for the man with the painted skeleton face to make their drinks.

I gazed over at the couch and my belly fluttered. Only a few nights ago, Raine had me spread open while they filled all of my holes. It was weird now to see people who hated me sitting on that very couch. To watch Poe mix cocktails for girls who talked shit about me. And yet they all couldn’t resist an invitation to play in my house. Bitches.

“Looks like they’re enjoying the freak’s free booze,” Maureen snickered, raising her voice so they could hear.

The three girls at the bar glared at us before rolling their eyes and stalking off.

I exchanged a look with Poe, his piercing green eyes melting me right there. “As long as they don’t try to enjoy any of my guys, they’ll leave here drunk, happy, and in one piece.”

“Amen to that.” Maureen pulled an orange jello shot out of her cleavage and knocked it back.

I chuckled but a chill crept up the base of my neck. “Remember, don’t drink anything unless you get it from Poe. I wouldn’t put it past Billy and Chad to spike our drinks.”

Maureen nodded as she looked around. The room was starting to fill up but still no sign of our targets. “You think they’ll show?”

“This is the biggest party in town. They’ll show.” I walked over to the bar and took a jello shot from Poe.
