“We must have just missed each other.”
“Good thing we never have to worry about that again.”
We decided that we were going to live in Oak Island for a while until we wanted to relocate again. Right now, we were basically on a much overdue vacation, and we’d figure out what was next together.
“You’re ovulating,” he declared out of nowhere.
Shocked, I responded, “I’m sorry, what?”
“You heard me.”
“How do you even know that?”
“I track your cycle.”
I stared at me dumbfounded.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“How long have you known my cycle?”
“Why is that relevant?”
“Because your girlfriend wants to know.”
He smiled. “I can’t wait to see you pregnant.”
My mouth dropped open. “You want a baby?”
“I want all my babies with you.”
I leaned in, getting close to his mouth. “You’re so bossy.”
“And you love it. We both know how much you’re into that shit.”
“Oh yeah?”
“You wouldn’t be with me if you weren’t.”
“True story.”
“I do have one demand.”
“I’m afraid to ask.”
“I do want to marry you.”
“Oh yeah?” I smiled from ear to ear.
“That’s not how you make a baby.”
“It is if I want to keep living.”
“Also, true story.” Smiling wide, I reminded, “I love you. Then, now, forever.”
The night couldn’t have been more perfect.
