Zane pulls up minutes later. “What the fuck were you thinking by taking off on your own like that? Someone could have hurt you!” he growls out in anger.

“I just needed to get away,” I snap.

“Dani, we need to talk about this. I have no idea what I fucking did,” he says with hurt lacing his voice.

“I need my dad,” I whisper, rushing into the club.

It’s busy like it usually is on a Friday night. I spot my parents right away and rush over to them.

“Honey, what’s wrong?” my mom asks with concern in her eyes.

“I just need to talk to dad,” I whisper, trying not to cry.

My dad pushes my mom off his lap lightly and stands up. “Let’s go talk in my office.”

I follow him towards his office. From the side of my eye, I see my mom stop Zane from following us.

When we get in, he closes the door and takes a seat on the couch in there.

“What’s wrong?” he asks when I don’t say anything.

I let out a sigh and take a seat beside him.

“Zane bought us a house,” I whisper brokenly.

“I know, baby. He showed it to us before he bought it,” he admits.

“He did?” I ask hesitantly.

“Of course he did. You didn’t think he would get a house without your parent’s approval first?” my dad asks with a shake of his head.

“Isn’t it too soon?” I ask.

“If it feels right, then it isn’t too soon. Does it feel right to you?” he asks me.

“He’s perfect. He’s everything I could want in a man,” I tell him.

“Then what’s the problem?” he asks.

“I love living at the club. I get to be closer to you. I spent my whole like wondering what my father was like, and now I am finally getting to know you. What if everything changes once I leave the clubhouse?” I say.

“Darling. We will always have time for one another. Your mother and I found a place that’s on the same block as you guys. We may have lost twenty-five years together, but we have a long time to get to know one another,” he tells me.

“I’m just scared,” I whisper.

“Scared of what?” he replies.

I don’t answer right away. He sits patiently while waiting for me to get the words out.

“I love him. I do. It’s the most terrifying and exciting thing I have ever done,” I start. “I didn’t know someone could mean so much to me, you know? Then he comes along and turns my whole world around, and it feels too good to be true. What if we live together and we can’t stand one another? What if I end up not liking the way he washes dishes or something,” I ask.

My dad chuckles for a second before he speaks. “That’s love, darling. It’s scary and exciting. I knew your mom would change everything when I met her. I loved the fucking ride. The hard part is trusting someone with your heart not to break it. Your mom crushed me. I was broken, and a shell of a man when she left. It was the only reason I climbed the ranks in the club so fast because I was trying to escape the hurt of her leaving me. When she came back into my life, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be with her again. It was hard to want to give her that power over me all over again. The heart wants what it wants though, and it always will beat for your mother. It always has.”

I sit there shocked at his words. I never knew he felt that way.

“So, you are saying I just need to trust my heart?” I ask him.

“If Zane is who you really want, who you really love, then everything will work out. If you are scared, tell him why you are scared. Talk to him. Let him prove to you why he is your man,” he says.
