“Just for support. You are never too old to need your mom,” she says, but I don’t believe her with the look in her eyes. It’s not one I have ever seen from my mother before.

“Don’t do anything until I talk to Dani,” I tell her. I know there’s no stopping her from coming to the club.

I head out back onto my bike and take the short drive to the club.

Lydia is in the main room. She smiles and gets up to walk over to me, but I shake my head and continue walking straight to Dani’s room.

“You better end it with that bitch if you want to be in your child’s life,” she says loudly, causing everyone in the main room to stop talking.

I turn around and glare at her. “Shut the fuck up until I am ready to talk to you,” I snap.

I knock on Dani’s door. She doesn’t answer, but I hear shuffling on the other side so I don’t stop knocking until she answers.

We are going to talk about this.

Chapter Eight

Dani

The knocking at my door won’t stop. I have a feeling I already know who it is. I haven’t spoken to Zane all day, and there’s no doubt in my mind that Lydia has already talked to him.

I open the door and it’s Zane. He doesn’t say anything, but I step back and let him in my room. Might as well get this over with.

I shut the door, and he paces my room.

“Lydia said she spoke to you,” he states.

I swallow hard. “Yeah, she told me.”

“I don’t believe her,” he says, and I look up at him in shock at his words.

“Why not?” I ask warily.

“For one thing, the timing. She tells me she’s pregnant now after I only told her over a week ago it was over between us. She is known to lie a lot around the club. She always told people she was my Old Lady, but she never was,” he says, not breaking eye contact with me.

“Plenty of people get pregnant that use a condom. I’ve seen it happen a lot,” I tell him.

He shakes his head. “I know that, but I feel it in my gut that she’s lying.”

“Always trust your gut,” I say softly.

“What?” he asks, looking at me in confusion.

I shrug and step closer. “That’s what my mom always told me growing up. I had to always trust my gut. It was always important to her, and I never knew why until we came here; but if you don’t think Lydia is pregnant, then we will find out.”

“My gut told me I could trust you. It has never led me wrong before,” he says while stepping closer and cupping my face in his hands.

“Okay. Then let’s deal with this,” I say softly.

He smiles at me before brushing his lips with mine in a sweet, soft kiss.

It’s over way too quickly, but we have something we need to do.

When we walk out to the main room, Lydia is there looking at me with a smirk. “I hope you said your goodbyes.”

I look around the room and everyone is practically there, including my father. I guess everyone wanted to know what was going on, or how I was going to handle this.

I guess if I wanted a life by Zane’s side or as the club princess, I better start acting like it and put this bitch in her place.
