CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

CORA

“Cora. Love,” Samuel’s fingers dust along the side of my face as his whispers rouse me from my sleep.

Opening my eyes, I struggle to see in the dark. It takes a moment, but as my eyes adjust all I can make out is his silhouette beside the bed.

“There are things I should have told you.” He pulls back the covers and climbs into the bed. He tenderly wraps his arms around me and pulls me against him. Chest to chest, our bare skin touches, and electricity buzzes over my body.

No one makes me feel the way that he does.

Holding me tightly against his hard, muscular body, he presses his lips against mine. They’re soft and warm, so inviting that I part mine to let him take more of me. Sweeping his tongue into my mouth, he teasingly rubs it against mine. He doesn’t plunder my mouth or roughly claim it. Instead, he alternates between teasing caresses of his tongue and wet, longing kisses on my lips.

Samuel’s hands roam down my back as he backs away from our kiss. Pulling my leg over his hip, he whispers through our kisses, “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you everything about me, love.”

His hand rubs up and down the back of my thigh, which is swung over his body, as he kisses me again. The kiss grows deeper, he rolls us until I’m on my back, and he’s resting between my thighs.

“I know you must be sore. I’ll be gentle, love.” He aligns himself with my entrance and takes his time pressing himself into me.

Letting out a moan, I fist the pillow behind my head. My dream is so real and vivid that my heart is racing, and I can barely breathe. The sensations of Samuel on my skin and sliding into me feel so real as I wake up.

“Fuck, I love how you’re always so fucking ready to take me.” His words vibrate against my neck as he bottoms out inside of me.

This isn’t a dream.

“Samuel.” My voice cracks as his name trembles from my quivering lips.

“Shhhh.” His gentle shush blows against my face before he peppers it with light kisses.

An eerie calmness washes over me as his lips continue to trail down my neck.

I shouldn’t like this.

He’s a monster.

I should fight him.

“I’d never hurt you like that, love.” He lifts his hips and slides back into me to the hilt. His fingers lace around my throat just below my jaw, but he doesn’t squeeze. Pressing gently, he stretches my neck to make room for his lips as he works his hips toward a steady pace.

My mind might be unsure, but my body reacts to his touch all the same. Every languid thrust causes me to moan in pleasure, wanting more from him.

“Samu—”

“Do you believe me?” He kisses the words up the side of my neck.

He lifts his head, and our eyes meet. It’s dark, but I can see him more than clearly enough. His eyes are warm and full of tenderness. My lips part, but not a sound comes from them.

Because I do…

I do trust him.

“That’s what I thought,” he whispers. Without breaking our gaze, he slides into me again and again. His eyes boring into mine; every thrust driving deeper than the one before.

Oh God…

It’s like he’s fucking my soul.

“Sam,” I breathlessly whimper his name. Squeezing my legs against his waist, my back arches from the bed as my body explodes beneath him.
