“Wade!” I scold. “That’s insane. Just because we’re dating doesn’t mean you should splurge your money on me like that!”

He shrugs. “I know, but I wanted to. And I wanted you all to myself tonight,” he says before kissing me on the cheek. I shiver at his touch. For a guy who’s never had a real girlfriend before, he’s way too good at this.

“Plus, the food here is apparently wicked, so I hope you’re hungry.” He arches an eyebrow.

My lips curl into the stupidest grin. “I’m starving.”

Wade

Once our bellies are near bursting with the splendid dishes prepared by one of France’s finest chefs, we go up the elevator again. This time, we stop at the very top, two hundred and seventy-six meters, to be precise. The view from here is even more spectacular. Night has fully descended, and we learn firsthand how Paris got its nickname, the City of Lights. A few other couples are here as well, creating a serene and romantic atmosphere.

We step up to the fence and bask in the twinkling lights around us. I’m now standing behind Roxy, cradling her hips with my arms, and I’ve never felt happier.

“I would have never imagined I’d be experiencing something like this,” I say, nuzzling my face in her neck. And I don’t mean just being on top of the Iron Lady.

“I know,” she says. She turns her head slightly to face me. “I thought you wanted a simple life.”

“I want everything you want,” I say, holding her tighter.

“Wade.” She turns back to face me completely. “I was kidding about all that.”

“I know.” I wink, before gripping the fence behind her and kissing her neck.

“Wade.” A giggle escapes her perfect lips. “We’re not exactly alone here.”

“That could be arranged.” I smile against her neck, and it turns into a trail of kisses. Her hands travel to my back as the temperature rises between us. I trace her sweet skin until I reach her mouth, where my lips crash with hers, searching and demanding. I need more. Staying with her the past few days was both pure bliss and absolute torture.

“Let’s go back to your room,” I growl.

Roxy is panting from the heat of our kiss, but then she breaks away. “Stop,” she says, a hand on my torso. “We can’t. You have a big game tomorrow. It’s the rules.”

I stroke her cheek and steal another kiss. “I don’t care.”

“No,” she mumbles against my mouth. “Wade, you do care.” She places both hands on my chest, firmer this time, to separate our bodies. “I don’t want to be the reason you lose tomorrow. You need to focus. I’m serious.” Her face is stern, and it might be the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

I contemplate arguing, but deep down, I know she’s right. My forehead falls against hers, and I graze her bottom lip with my thumb.

“I know.” I close my eyes. “You’re right. Tomorrow, then.” I take a step back. If I stay this close to her, there’s no way I’ll be able to stop.

She nods. “Tomorrow, after the game.”

“Tomorrow after we’ve won the game,” I amend, grinning.

She rolls her eyes and shakes her head. “So confident.”

“With you by my side? Damn right I am. We will win tomorrow, and the goals I score will be for you.”

Her eyebrows shoot up. “Goals, huh? Plural.”

“Yup.” I nod quickly. “I’m thinking two.”

Her expression softens. “I’ll be cheering in the stands.”

My heart leaps for joy, and I can’t fight the goofy smile spreading across my face. My girl is here with me in Paris, and she will be rooting for me in the stands. “And then, we’ll go back to your room, and I’ll sco—”

Roxy’s laughter cuts me off as her head falls onto my chest. Her fits of giggles are contagious.

Catching her breath, she meets my gaze, her eyes wet with tears. “Were you really going to say you’ll score in the bedroom?”
