Darah looked at me with a sassy wink. “Well, boys, let’s see what has gotten Candy so upset.” She used her thumb to open the command door.

Candy rushed past us and placed himself crouching in front of Andromeda, who was sitting in the corner holding her knees, crying.

How did you get in here, Andromeda?” Darah asked sternly.

Candy pointed his venomous tail spine at her. As he dimmed his fur, he looked at Darah as if begging for permission to kill Andromeda.

“Please take it away from me,” Andromeda asked as she cried.

Crouching in a corner, hugging her knees. Trembling and hyperventilating, she tried to turn her head away from the snarling Candy.

“Candy, come here, boy. It’s okay. Leave Andromeda alone.”

He hissed and hopped over to Darah obediently.

“I do believe this girl is playing possum with us” Darah said as she looked at the female suspiciously.

“What is with his tail?” Darah asked, looking at me.

“Darah, he is a deadly apex animal. He has a venomous spine tail, he can sting over and over if he chooses, but in life threating attacks he can projectile one life-threatening stinger like a dart.”

I looked at Andromeda suspiciously, I am with the beast on this matter, she is up to something.

He must feel like Andromeda is life-threatening if he is willing to let lose his dart on her. It is painful and takes a long time to regrow.”

“Wow! You are full of surprises, Candy.” Darah said soothingly while rubbing his big ears.

“No need to kill her just yet. Be a good boy and be nice for now.” Darah continued baby-talking the deadly beast.

Candy glared at me, letting me know he was Darah’s special beast.

I know she loves the beast, so I accepted this craziness of having a chetaht for a pet.

“Andromeda, how did you get into the command deck?” Darah asked again. She took steps to get Candy to move away from Andromeda.

She had stood up, looking timid and scared.

“I heard the commotion and all the soldiers leaving the ship, when I saw two of them leaving the command deck, I slipped in thinking I’d find you here and figure out what was happening.

I got scared when the doors closed, and this place was empty; I thought the Kanenites were back and coming to get me. Then I heard your pet trying to tear up the door to get to me.” Andromeda’s eyes brimmed with tears, and her lip trembled.

Candy Hissed and kept his tail aimed at her.

“Calm down, boy, it’s okay, sweetie.” Darah soothed Candy.

Darah approached her dash panel to see if anything was messed with. As the door slid open again, and two masked soldiers entered.

“Flame has requested that we escort all of you to her command center.” A stern female voice said through the apparatus covering her face. Her voice sounded robotic.

“Okay, everyone, let’s go see what all the fuss is about, Darah said.

Darah held my hand, and we all left the ship. Andromeda stayed feet behind us as Candy kept his tail pointed at her. The warriors took a guard on either side of her. She still has not been deemed worthy. I don’t feel bad for the scared female because I don’t smell the scent of fear on her.

“Maybe we should be extremely leery of this stranger female if the beast doesn’t like her,” I whispered to Darah.

“Oh, I already am Terrek,” Darah said, reassuring me she hadn’t fallen for those tears.

She squeezed my hand and glanced my way but said nothing as we walked along the nearly deserted port. As we walked, our footsteps seemed to echo with each step.
