“My mate, you ask me to wield the Kanenites tool. It is dangerous.” I grabbed his hand, intertwining our fingers. This feels nice holding his hand. I liked the contrast between his purple skin and mine. His hands felt strong. “Focus, Darah,” I silently chided.

“Follow me. I want to show you something. I held his hand as he and Candy reluctantly walked with me to the chow hall. I went to an alien machine and requested meals for Terrek, Candy, and me.”

“Here, Terrek let the machine scan you, stand here.” I watched as Terrek reluctantly stood where I pointed.

“I do not like the scanning machine.” Terrek was apprehensive.

“I know that it scans your mind, and the AI can simulate your food requirements. If you have a specific dish, the food dispenser will replicate that dish. This is as close to mindreading as I can imagine,” I said in awe.

Terrek allowed the scan, and then Candy sat for me like a good boy while he was scanned. I stood to get my scan. Once the machine processed us, it began to run.

To my delight, the food dispenser made me steak and mashed potatoes. It was slightly off with texture, not quite the real thing, but close enough. Terrek had a Laverian dish, candy, had some raw meat.

We got drinks, the Chetaht got a big bowl of water, I had sweet tea, and Terrek had Laverian punch. I felt blessed and amazed that I could manage the operation of these machines so well.

“I am full as a tick!” I said after we all ate our meals. “My momma always said big decisions are best discussed around the kitchen table.” Food has a way of making everyone feel better about hard things.

“You say the oddest things my little earthling.” Terrek said with laughter.

“Terrek, it’s just technology.” I said with the last mouth full of yummy sweet tea.

“Please! How can I convince you to get educated by the machine.” I practically begged.

I saw his face light up.

“I will let you use your tools on me if you grant me one kiss, Darah. I don’t want that thing to fry my brain before I get to taste your lips.”

All of a sudden, I was hungry in a whole different way. I got up from my seat and crooked my finger at the big guy, beckoning him to me. The sight of that man, with his hypnotic black eyes, zeroed in on me.

I looked up as he towered over me, pushing me back against the wall. I reached up and pulled his ram-like horns down, bringing his lips to mine for a searing kiss.

He moaned with a sexy growl, lifting my ass so he could stand, not breaking our kiss. Whatever Laverian food he ate added spice to my lips as I got lost in his taste. I ground into him. My need was like a burning building.

I broke our searing kiss. “What was that? “I panted as I locked eyes with his.”

“Our mating bond will only become stronger, the need to mate.” He said.

I could smell Terrek’s scent of pine and male and felt something intense happening between us.

“Darah,” Terrek said in a soft plea of need.

I pressed up to kiss him again, he had an amazing mouth. His kiss was thorough, deep, and lingering. He was taking his time to explore me.

I felt this need for him more than lust, magical of some kind. We genuinely were connecting soul-deep.

My clothes a barrier, I tore myself away from his lips.

“Put me down, Terrek. I need to take these clothes off.”

Dazed, Terrek held me to him as I wiggled out of my sweatshirt and let it fall to the floor. My skin came alive as we touched bare chest to bare skin.

More than that, we began to glow. An iridescent light sparkled everywhere our skin touched,

Electrical currents spark across our skin, white lighting connecting us.”

“What is this? I caressed my hands across his chest and felt the delicious tingles the electric light stimulated inside me.”

“This is our consummation. The mate bond is binding our souls,” Terrek says as he peppers kisses that spark across my chin.
