“Do you really think I stand a chance?”

“You’ve been here the longest and work the most hours. She’d be crazy to pick someone else.”

“Thanks.” Manager of Sweet Cocktails. That’s something to dream about.

CHAPTER Ten

Christopher

My eyes drift to Nellie’s ass. She is beautiful, and I haven’t had my fill of her yet. My cock twitches as I watch her walk across the room. I’ve spent far too many hours thinking about her this week. It took all my self-control not to text her. I’m not normally like this with women. I already knew Nellie was different, and if I don’t want to subconsciously push her away like I usually do with my dates after we’ve slept together, I need to be aware of my actions.

“Are you listening to me?” Janette asks.

“Sorry. Can you repeat that?” I ask, bringing my attention back to the table.

“Do you think your grandpa will allow me to use his private box at the race track?”

“Why not invite everyone to the docks so they can see what the Sweet Cocktail franchise looks like?”

“If I’m going to get rich, business-minded people to invest in the brand, I’m going to need to wow them.”

“Why are you so interested in making these deals?”

“If I can get five people to invest, I’ll get a bonus, which I intend to use for my own place in Edinburgh.”

“What will happen with this bar?”

“I’m glad you asked that. The owner wants to stay a silent partner. He’s hoping to find someone to be the frontman.”

“What’s that got to do with me?” There’s got to be something I’m missing here. Why my grandfather’s box, and why not go to him in the first place?

“You seem to love the place as much as I do. Would you consider taking it on?” There it is. Her real motive for talking to me.

“I’m no landlord.” I shake my head, dismissing the idea.

“No, but I think you could make it work with the staff we already have. All you’d need to do is call in to make sure everything is running smoothly. The rest will practically run itself.” She glances at the bar. Nellie catches my eye and smiles.

“I’ll think about your proposal and speak to my family.” It’s starting to get late, and spending my night with Janette was not how I saw this evening going. “Are we done? I have something I need to do.”

“Sure. Thanks, Christopher.”

I smile as I retreat from the booth. Nellie goes through the employee’s door, and I hurry to follow her.

“What are you doing in here?” Nellie asks when she sees me. The small box room has a dishwasher, racks of wine, and a couple of fridges.

Instead of answering her straight away, I back her up against the wall and kiss her passionately. “I’ve been wanting to do that all night.”

“I need to get back to work. You’ll have to wait a little longer for attention.” She smiles against my lips.

“You won’t be missed for five minutes.” I kiss her again.

“My boss likes you, but she won’t thank you for corrupting the staff.”

“I don’t think she’ll mind once I explain.” My hands start to wander from her waist up to her chest.

“Oh, yeah. What would you say?”

“The drinks aren’t the sweetest thing in this bar, and I have my eye on the real candy.”
