I should definitely go. The fog of insanity that apparently overtook me at the bar has lifted, and I can see this decision for the terrible one that it is.

I head for the front door.

“Going somewhere?”

I spin to find Ben standing across the room, making a drink at the low, wood sideboard next to a set of open patio doors.

“Oh…yeah.”

He lifts his eyebrows and holds out a glass. I can see now that he was making a drink for me. It looks an awful lot like the mojito I was drinking downstairs.

Don’t go over there and take it, Victoria. You’re leaving.

But what could one drink hurt?

I walk over and take the glass from him, not meeting his eyes. My purse dangles from my shoulder.

“Did you think I wasn’t coming?”

I shake my head, still avoiding his eyes. It's not hard. There’s plenty to look at in the incredible room now that I take a moment to look at something other than my own terrible life choices. The view. The pool. The freaking bed. It’s breathtaking.

“You thought I was coming and decided to leave before that happened.”

The confident woman from the bar seems to have abandoned me. I shrug.

“You’ve changed your mind.” The statement from Ben is so final, so resigned, I can’t help but look up to see the expression that goes with it. He looks calm enough. His sad eyes from earlier are still gone, thank god. He just looks…pensive.

Why that is so hot, I can’t even begin to process, but it is.

He's looking at me like I’m an expensive piece of art. Something he plans to admire. Enjoy. Not like a man who’s going to try to talk me into sleeping with him with vague insinuations about a future relationship.

My purse slips from my shoulder to my hand. “I was just…This is kind of a lot for me.”

He cocks his head to the side. “First time?”

My eyes go a bit wide, and he smiles. “First time getting taken up to a hotel room after flirting in a resort bar?” he clarifies.

I nod.

“Well, if you choose to stay, it would be my honor to show you the ropes.”

Well, shit.

Just his words send desire coursing through my body. What this man is offering, promising, I want it so bad. When was the last time I was really and truly taken care of by a man? Um, never. And here is this one, easily the most handsome man on the planet, offering me a night of…whatever he wants.

Hell, I bet he won’t even make me choose what we do.

It’s that thought that sends me over the edge. “Okay.”

“Okay you’ll stay?”

“Maybe just for one drink?” My voice comes out soft and unsure. I have got to find the confidence I had earlier if I’m going to make it through tonight.

Ben glances down at the glass in my hand, and I follow his gaze.

Empty.

How the hell did that happen?
