“We’re here,” I heard Jameson whisper as he pulled my hair away from my face.

“I fell asleep?”

The plane had apparently landed, and I didn’t even feel it.

“Out like a light,” he chuckled. “Let’s head out.”

A car was already waiting as our bags were being loaded into the trunk. I trusted Jameson with everything I had, and flying was actually a breeze as he kept my mind off of it.

The car door was opened and ready for us to get in. Jameson motioned with his hand for me to go ahead inside. The car smelled like fresh leather, and I inhaled the scent.

“What are you doing?” Jameson asked.

“I love the smell of leather.”

“Oh yes. I love the smell as well.”

“Makes cars smell new. How long until we get there?”

“It’s only ten miles from here.”

“How long did I sleep?”

“A couple hours.”

“Sorry about that.”

“Don’t apologize for sleeping. It was fine. I got to do some work on the laptop.”

I reared my head back. “You? Work?”

He cocked his head at me. “Very funny.”

Ten miles passed by in a blur because the car turned off onto a private road.

“We’re here,” Jameson said. Once the car stopped, Jameson exited the car and took my hand in his.

“Where?”

“Lake Tahoe. Ever been?”

“No.”

That’s when I saw it. “Holy shit. Is this yours?” I asked about the mansion sized house before me.

“It’s a friend’s, he is letting me borrow it.”

“You sure know how to impress a girl.” I smirked and the grand door was opened by a dark-haired woman.

“Merinda,” Jameson greeted her while he still held my hand.

I leaned into Jameson. “There’s staff here too?”

“Yes. Your friend must be really really rich.”

“I am.” I heard a man’s voice say as he came over to greet us. “Jameson, it’s so good to see you again.” They did a one-shoulder hug. “Who’s this?”

“Ah. This is Brielle Delaney.”
