I laughed, hoping this wasn’t a dumb decision.

I mean, if this woman was heading into Julie’s office, she was probably here to interview for some random position. It was only polite of me to introduce myself as soon as possible.

There were constantly new people coming in and out of our complex, but none were ever this drop-dead gorgeous. I wasn’t sure if that was even a term anymore, but this woman, with her soft brown curls and her bold neon pink jacket, was enough to stop my heart. Drop-dead gorgeous fit her more than any human I had ever seen in my life.

She slipped out of Julie’s office, beaming, and I knew. I knew she got the job, whatever it was.

Her eyes lit up, and her smile widened when she saw me. She uttered something under her breath that sounded positive, so I leaned against the archway that separated the admin offices from the main hallway, doing my damnedest to catch my breath. “Where are you headed?”

She glanced at her phone, her face twisting into adorable confusion. “The kitchen?”

The kitchen. Of course. She showed up with Bardot.

I pushed off the wall and offered her my arm. “That’s exactly where I was headed.”

She raised an eyebrow, and I willed my dick to take a breather. “Really?”

“Absolutely.” I flashed her my award-winning smile—the one the fans always ate up.

She narrowed her eyes, but took my arm.

“What’s your name?” She glanced up at me, her blue eyes wide and assessing.

Immediately, the scent of vanilla filled my nostrils, and I wanted to bury myself in her until that scent was the only thing I ever smelled again.

She stopped walking, her brow raised. I shook my head, trying to get the image of those eyes locked on me as I made her come over and over again out of my head so I could focus on what she was saying. I would make her come so many times, she’d forget her name.

Name.

Oh shit.

She asked me my name. I gave her my best smirk. “Mac Savage.”

“Savage?” She snorted, and her eyes turned to saucers. “Oh, that was rude. You all have nicknames, right? Like Lightning?”

“You know Lightning?”

She shook her head and eyed me suspiciously. I supposed my tone had been a bit too harsh, but the thought of her knowing one of the other guys was too much. It was already absurd that she was someone Bardot knew.

I saw that guy every single day, and he never mentioned this woman. We had history. He and I would be exchanging some words.

“Bash—I mean, Sebastian—told me his name when we got here.”

“Oh, okay.” I tucked my free hand into my pocket and slipped on a carefree persona that always served me well. “How long have you been with Bardot?”

Her cheeks burned so red I saw the glow from my periphery. She froze, and I stopped walking.

“Oh. No. Bash and I? No. We’re not dating.”

Not dating? That was the best news I had heard all day.

“How do the two of you know each other?”

“My brother’s best friend,” she stammered out.

Even better news. No man in their right mind would let their best friend date their sister.

“Are you dating anyone?”
