“It's alright, Rosy. Just listen more, and you'll get other ones.”

Someone yelled from behind. “Venus!”

A small smile tilted my face. Even if Rose-Mary had been incorrect I still was proud of myself.

My students were more than average. Learning disabilities, developmental delays, ADHD, autism, and any other developmental disabilities you could think of my third graders were a mix of it.

Each day I taught them amounted to progress— sometimes fast, unbelievable progress.

The class ended, and time passed as usual until it was time to go home. I watched them all leave one by one until I was left alone in the classroom.

After giving birth to Nathaniel, our son, I took some time to take care of him before Alice, the nanny, took over.

Then, I continued relentlessly pursuing my dreams in the school where I’d been carrying out my volunteering experience for over a year and a half.

Three months later, I was here— in the midst of the very academy I’d wished to be. I had achieved my dream and Mom’s dream of working in the prestigious Everest Academy.

I didn't know when a tear slipped down my cheeks. This was slowly becoming a usual occurrence— me reminiscing on how I’d finally achieved all I wanted to be— followed by tears.

I didn't blame myself. Anyone in my shoes would be moved to tears. I'd come this far…

I wasn’t the only one that had come far. Ethan’s company was doing well, he kept receiving multi-billion-dollar deals, and Dad’s carpentry business had scaled up significantly in the past few years.

He now had another branch in New York and was looking to open more branches.

His relationship with Ethan had completely evolved. The breakthrough came when Dad held our son with tears of joy in his eyes.

Releasing a sigh, I glanced at the wall clock on a corner of the wall. It was almost time to go home. Today was one of those days where my husband came to pick me up. A few more minutes passed, and I received a call.

“I'm here, honey.” His voice sounded a bit deeper.

I packed my bags and headed out of the classroom. I greeted a few teachers on my way out before I reached outside.

There was a bit of hurry in my steps as I made my way towards the sleek, black Mercedes that waited for me.

I furrowed my brows. This seemed new. Had he recently bought another one? I was starting to lose track of his collection of cars.

I opened the car and entered into the passenger's seat. I was instantly attacked with kisses over my face.

I grinned. It was one interesting part that I looked forward to on days he came to pick me up.

Slowly his lips landed on mine. When I saw that his lips were a little too lingering, I pulled back.

A quickie in front of a school wasn't something I wanted now.

“How are you?” I stared at his face. Still as handsome as ever and enough to incite everything good in my belly.

He grunted with an eye roll.

I chuckled, “Oh, come on. Don't be sassy now. We still have to pick up the kids from school.”

My words only earned me another grunt, to which I laughed.

“How was your day?” He asked after a while.

I proceeded to tell him about my day until there was nothing left to say.

I asked him the same, and he told me all about how his day went, which consisted mostly of coffee, and signing deals.
