"We can't stay. Staying is running, Atticus. We don't run."

Her fingers slid over mine, and I let the warmth of her hand seep into my body. "We don't run."

"And I have a thing or two to say to your father."

Panic attacked my adrenal glands instantly. "No. Absolutely not. Promise me you're not going to confront him, Gwen."

"He's tried to ruin my life. I can't just sit by and let that stand."

"No, we are going to fight the right way. He is not coming back to Pendragon Tech. Over my dead body."

She winced. "Poor choice of words."

"Oh, Jesus. He's not coming back. You're not confronting him. Promise me."

She grumbled something under her breath.

"Gwenyth," I gritted out.

"I know you think that you're being foreboding and directive when you use my full name, but all it does is make me wet."

Mic drop.

The blood instantly rushed to my cock. "Fuck, Ness."

She flashed me a grin. "You are so easy, Mr. Price."

"For you, I’m easy."

She lifted a brow. "Are you sure it's just for me? I know in New York there are probably a whole slew of socialites who would kill to climb back into your bed."

I noted the hint of hesitation in her voice. How could she still not know? "You're the only one who has ever mattered to me."

"There is a long line of socialites though. Who was the one from our engagement party? Lucy? She thought she mattered."

I shook my head. "No one matters enough for me to remember."

"Uh-huh. You have a distinct advantage. You've got a whole dossier on me."

"You want a dossier? I'll give you one." Hell, I’d give her anything she wanted.

"No, I don't want a dossier. I want you to tell me. I want you to use your words, Atticus."

"You remember what happened last time I used my words?”

A pretty flush darkened her cheeks. “Oh I remember.”

So did I. Christ did I remember. It made me want to use all my words. “When I tell you they don't matter, I mean it." I took her hand, sliding her fingers into mine. "No one I was with before you matters. And not in a cold asshole way. I just can't see them in my mind's eye anymore. The moment I met you, you were all I could see. All I want to see. I literally remember no one but you."

I could see her biting back her smile. "You keep sweet talking me like that, and we really will need to pull over."

I guided her hand into my lap. "See? Now you're getting him excited."

She gave me a gentle stroke and then squeezed harder.

"Fuuuck, Gwenyth."

"Yes, Atticus?"
