He took my hand, brushing the back of my hand with his thumb. “It’s just you now. I’ll never cheat on you or betray you. I swear.”

“You better not, Max. Even I have no idea what lengths I’ll go to if you ever let another woman touch what is mine.”

He beamed with a smile, his blue eyes twinkling. “You’re cute when you’re jealous.”

Scarlet red burned my cheeks. “Can I come in now?”

“Sure.” He stretched his hand out to me, and I took it. “My brothers are waiting.”

I followed Maxim’s lead to the room with the red door, and to my surprise, it wasn’t an office. It led straight to a private elevator that whisked us up to the top floor of the building. The elevator bleeped and opened up to let us out to a narrow hallway and a silver door by the side. Maxim pressed his finger to a part of the door I wouldn’t have guessed had a fingerprint sensor.

It scanned him. Then the door buzzed open.

My jaw fell open. “Wow. Is this some super encrypted room or what?”

Maxim smiled. “You guessed right. He pushed the door and made way for me to enter the office first. He stepped in after me and closed the door.

I was in awe of the room. It was a technical room, obviously. It had over ten computers, and the walls were basically computer screens displaying different stock market charts and live CCTV cameras. Only a few videos were from the club; the others looked like they covered most of the city. What the hell was this room?

“This is where we watch over the city, our stocks and hacking projects when we needed,” Sergey answered from where he sat.

I flinched a tad. I hadn’t even noticed him sitting there. Nikolai sat to his right and Vlad to his left. The computers were occupied by people who I assumed were technical engineers, hackers, or both.

“If I’m not wrong, I believe this room’s existence is supposed to be confidential. Why would you let me in here?” I asked. My papa wouldn’t even let me into the technical room at his manor without us signing an NDA.

“Because Maxim trusts you,” Nikolai answered. The second eldest Vadim brother terrified me the most. It surprised me that Giselle always spoke of him being such a good husband when the man didn’t even look like he had the ability to smile. “I still think he’s an idiot, but he trusts you, and we’re giving him a chance.”

I shared a glance with Maxim. He’d somehow convinced his brothers to let me into this room. I could hack into their systems or, worse, betray them by sending their confidential data to my father.

Still, he’d been able to convince them to let me and. And despite not trusting me, they allowed me because they loved him. “Don’t worry, what you’re afraid of won’t happen. I have too much to lose.”

Sergey nodded. “Let’s get to work. We don’t have much time.”

“What computer am I using?” I asked.

Maxim pointed at the iMac closest to Sergey’s desk. “That one. It has everything you’ll need.”

I tied my hair up in a ponytail, ready to work. Someone had already turned on the computer and booted the software programs I needed. My fingers hovered over the keyboard, my eyes set on the screen, and I went to work.

An hour later, I’d hacked into my father’s system, blocking out the security so no one would know I’d even come in.

“How’s it going?” Maxim asked, his breath warming the back of my neck from where he stood behind me.

“I’m in.” I twisted to look at him. “I’ve also been able to hack into his bank account. How about we take a few million dollars?”

Maxim and Vlad chuckled. Sergey’s lips twitched, but he did a good job of not laughing. As for Vlad…nothing. That man was definitely a robot.

“Do you have anything?” Nikolai asked coldly.

“He bought two tickets

“Do you have anything?” Nikolai asked coldly.

“There is nothing on his system, but his account shows he bought a new yacht five years ago.” I scrolled through my father’s accounts. “He also bought tickets to Michigan and then onward. I think he’s taking them out of the country.”

“That bastard.” Vlad snarled.

Panic flared in my chest, and bile crept up my throat. I looked at Maxim. “What happens if they leave? We’re never going to be able to get them back.”
