“So you like curvy women?” I sigh. “All men say that.”

“I’m not all men; to be perfectly honest, all of us do—all four brothers. I’m surprised Luka didn’t try to marry you,” he says as we walk into this open lapa area where there are various tables and chairs. Along the back are long tables piled with fresh fruit and what looks like yogurt and muesli.

That’s actually my favorite. I love tropical-style muesli with some strawberry yogurt.

We go to the tables and take bowls, dishing up food for ourselves before I lead Danil over to a table. We eat in silence, but it’s a comfortable silence this time. It's not a moody one like the last day has been.

“Can I at least know what the first activity is? I hope it’s a water one because I’m already getting hot.” I fan myself.

“It is a simple one. Just a swim in the ocean.” He smiles.

“Aren’t you supposed to wait to swim after you eat?” I ask.

“That’s a myth. We’ve never adhered to that. Apparently, you get stomach cramps, and that’s what drowns you, but I’ve never had that happen. Have you?” He looks at me with a smirk.

“No.” I wish I could wipe that smirk off his face. “But I want to be careful.”

“Then we won’t go in far, just enough to cool down.” He sits back as he finishes the small breakfast he dished up.

I continue to eat as I help myself to more food, and I push the bowl away once I'm done. Instantly, staff members are there to take our dishes and wish us a good day.

“Well, that’s nice,” I say. “And rather quick.”

“They live to serve here. They get a tip at the end of the trips from the tourists, and since all the tourists are billionaires, the tips are good.”

Danil stands up. “Let’s get going,” he says. “I have the whole day planned.”

I get up and walk beside him as we go down to the beach, where there are loungers. There aren’t many tourists around, so we must either be up earlier than expected or something strange is up.

“You said this is an island for billionaires?” I ask quietly. “Where are they?”

“There aren’t that many in the world, I assure you. Not those who go on holiday at the same time. This island is privately owned by one of my friends. There will probably be more flying in over this weekend.”

We pass a couple lounging about and I wonder what that would feel like. Lying beside the person you love, drinking cocktails all day, and just enjoying yourself—not planning your partner’s undoing.

We reach a section of the beach where there are not only loungers but also a hut, attended by a young man with long hair.

“Hello, sir, how can I help today?”

“Two surfboards, please,” Danil says.

“Oh no,” I say, stepping back. “I can’t surf.”

“I’m going to teach you.” He smiles at me as the young man comes out and directs us to two boards we can take.

I take the pink one, purely because I’m that girl. Danil takes a yellow one, which, for some reason, amuses me. He’s not exactly Mr. Sunshine. He leads me into the water, and I listen intently as he explains to me what I need to do.

It sounds a lot easier than it is. The first time I try to stand up, I completely wipe out, and the surfboard goes flying. Danil chuckles, sitting on his surfboard and watching me.

“You just need to find your balance,” he says with a grin.

I try again. Wipe out again.

I look at him as he laughs. “Laughing doesn’t help.”

“Okay, okay, I’ll hold the board. You get into a standing position, okay?” He swims over and holds the board for me.

I shakily get into a standing position, but I can tell I’m not stable as the waves lap underneath me. I shakily move a foot forward as Danil instructs me, and I try to center my weight. He lets go, and the wave carriers me a little before I wipe out again.
