I’m not sure what it means for the podcast, but my mind is a blurry haze right now—too fuzzy to really consider much of anything.

Maybe he won’t be my co-host. Maybe I’ll just interview players each week. Maybe Jack Dalton will hop on board with me.

Wouldn’t that be something?

I’ll find a way to save it since it’s really the last thread of a career I have left to hold onto. Aside from Jonah, it’s the last thread of anything I have left to hold onto.

I stare up at the ceiling as I will myself to stop crying, but I can’t seem to make it stop.

The nurse returns. “Well, Ms. Bailey, I have some news.”

My brows dip together. “Is it Lincoln?”

She shakes her head. “No, I’m sorry, I can’t share what’s going on with another patient. I ran your pregnancy test, and as it turns out, it was positive. So I guess instead of an X-ray, we’ll be taking you back for an ultrasound to make sure that little peanut in there is okay.”

“P…p…positive?” I stutter.

She smiles and nods. “Looks like you’re pregnant. Let me be the first to wish you congratulations.”

Pregnant?

The word is the last thought in my mind before the room goes black.
