He comes violently into me, and I grip onto him the same way he held me through my own orgasm. Something about holding onto each other in the most carnal time two people can share is both intimate and erotic.

We’re not even naked. We’ve barely shed enough clothes to do this, and yet it’s still one of the hottest moments of my life.

We’re both panting as we come down from the bliss, and eventually he pulls out. He grabs a tissue to clean up the mess he made.

“Can I have my underwear back now?” I ask, and he chuckles.

And then he shakes his head. “They’re my souvenir from our first press conference together.”

“Oh my God, Lincoln. That’s…”

“Hot?” he guesses.

“I was going to say gross, but you do you.”

My words earn a laugh, and it’s the type of sound I’ll never get tired of hearing.

We don’t really have any podcast stuff to discuss, but I know he has work to do. And I do, too.

So he kisses me one more time with the kind of kiss that tells me what we just did meant as much to him as it did to me, the kind of kiss I’ll be able to hold onto until we see each other again, and then I duck out of his office and wave goodbye to Megan, who definitely knows there’s something more than a podcast going on in that office.

Without my panties.

CHAPTER 21: LINCOLN

Our goal is to record the entire podcast in under an hour since I won’t have time once the season starts for much more than that, and somehow the stars align this week to make it work. We send the footage to the station so Rivera can produce it into our half-hour show, and we’re on pins and needles waiting to hear the approval from Ellie on Wednesday morning so we can officially publish our first episode by five o’clock.

The approval comes through a little before nine.

I’m at the office, and I assume Jolene is at hers, too.

Ellie: It’s incredible. I’m so proud of you both. The chemistry between you two is chef’s kiss and I’m so excited about the incredible opportunities this is going to open for you both to partner with the community. Congratulations!

Lorraine: Oh, thank God. What a relief. I’ve been nervous since we sent the footage to Rivera yesterday.

Me: WTF is chef’s kiss?

Ellie: [eyeroll emoji] Perfection.

Well, that seems to be good news. I glance up at the doorway when I see movement only to find Asher standing there as he lifts a fist to knock on the frame.

“Come on in,” I say.

He glances at me and then back at the door as he steps in. “Can I close it?”

I nod, and he does before he walks over to slide into the chair opposite me.

“What’s going on?” I ask. The way he’s sort of just collapsed in a chair is a little worrisome, but my brother tends to be unpredictable, so I never really know what I’m going to get out of him.

“Two things,” he says.

I raise my brows.

“First, has Mom talked to you at all?”

“About what?” I ask.

He shrugs. “She texted me last night looking for Dad. I was just curious if she hit you up, too.”
