She understood what that meant.

“And like when I met you in Iowa, we run domestic missions to help the CIA, FBI, and DEA. That’s why we carry federal creds. Look, I shouldn’t be telling you all this until you sign a nondisclosure agreement, which I’m sure is the first thing Shepherd will have you do. Signing it may be the only reason behind his request that you come to our headquarters.”

“Thank you for telling me all that. I’m going to get a quick shower. You can have the bathroom when I’m done.”

She’d made it clear he wasn’t invited to join her. He merely nodded and watched her seal herself in the bathroom. He wondered what that meant. Was she just tired? Or was she putting a halt to them investigating a relationship?

When she emerged from the bathroom accompanied by a cloud of steam dispersing and disappearing within the bedroom, she was dressed in panties and a tank top. Damn, she looked sexy.

“Stop drooling,” she said. “I didn’t think it was necessary to be fully clothed, as we’ve already seen each other naked. I’m exhausted and need to go right to sleep. But I’d like to snuggle with you. Tomorrow night, I hope we can get naked together again. And not to sleep.”

“I’d really like that,” Roth said. He kissed her lips, wishing she welcomed more tonight, but respecting the fact that she was beat and needed to sleep. “How does your back feel?”

“It’s still sore,” she admitted. “The heat in the shower helped a bit.”

He pulled away from her and went to his medical backpack. He took out two icepacks and broke the seal, causing them to chill. “Lie down on your stomach and we’ll put some cold on it now.” She did, and he closed himself in the bathroom to jack off in the shower. His cock was ready for another round with her, even though she hadn’t been.

She was sound asleep when he returned to the room.

The flight to O’Hare had been uneventful. The special and private TSA screening they received as Sebastian carried his weapon and a DEA badge got them to their gate quickly. She closed her eyes and slept on the flight, only waking when the plane descended. She had to admit she was nervous about going to his headquarters and meeting his boss. She appreciated Sebastian had told her all he had.

“One of my teammates is picking us up,” he told her, directing her to take the escalator up towards ticketing. “We’ll meet him at departures.”

As they were both travelling with just a backpack, they had no luggage to claim. Briana’s clothes that had gotten wet, including her winter coat, had been tossed into a dryer and she now wore them. On her feet were a pair of her gym shoes. She was glad it wasn’t snowing when they emerged from the terminal. She didn’t want to get another pair of her shoes soaked. Her boots were in her van, hopefully drying.

“I do need to get back to the east coast and get Miss Mittens after we’re done here,” she told Sebastian as they waited. “I texted with my friend who has her and she’s good to keep her for however long she needs to.”

“Your friend? One of your former clients?” Roth asked.

“Yes,” she replied. “But please don’t ask me anymore.”

“You’re going to have to completely trust me at some point, you know.”

“I’m just protecting my client,” she said as a black SUV pulled up to the curb beside them. A blond woman was in the front passenger seat beside a blond man who was behind the wheel.

“Our ride,” Roth said. He opened the back door and motioned her to slide in before him.

Briana tossed her backpack across the seat and climbed in, scooting all the way over. Sebastian slid in beside her.

“Hey, thanks for the ride,” Roth said to Cooper and Madison. “When did you guys get back?”

“Yesterday afternoon,” Cooper replied.

“Briana Woods, my team mates, John Cooper and Madison Miller,” he introduced.

Madison turned in her seat and flashed Briana a smile. “Hi Briana. It’s nice to meet you.”

“It’s nice to meet you too,” she said.

Madison handed a file folder to her. “It’s our standard NDA. Please read it and sign it before we reach HQ.” Her eyes flickered to Roth. “She has an appointment with Shepherd as soon as we arrive.”

Roth nodded. He assumed that would be the case. He glanced back at Briana. She was already reading the agreement. “I remember when I was handed that. I read every word to know what I was getting into.”

She looked up at him and smiled. She was glad to hear he’d had to sign one as well. She assumed anyone who knew anything at all about them was asked to. She was shocked, though, to see that the period she agreed to remain quiet for, was for the rest of her life.

After she’d signed it, she handed the folder back to Madison. “It’s signed,” she said.

“Thank you,” Madison said.
