I was too flustered to answer. “Would you have two women?”

He grimaced.

I was appalled. “Don’t answer that, Rikard. Or as I should say, Prickard!”

“That’s great, actually,” he chuckled.

“Astrid came up with it.”

“Nice one. I will have you know I’m not jealous.”

“Uh-huh.”

We stopped at my door.

“Really, Alexandra. That’s not it!”

“Then explain it,” I said.

“I’m not. I just… I was overcome.”

“Uh-huh.” I wasn’t buying it.

As he turned, I sang the chorus of the Gin Blossoms “Hey Jealousy.”

Running his hand through his blonde curls, Rick asked, “What are you doing, Lex?”

I was surprised by his shortening of my name, though not opposed. I also wasn’t sure why this song wasn’t on his radar. Yes, it was a very old song, but it wasn’t completely unknown.

“The song. I’m giving you a hard time,” I said.

“How?”

“Hey, jealousy?”

“The words are ‘Hey, Chelsea!’ Aren’t they?”

I snickered. “God, no. Hey, Chelsea? Who is Chelsea?”

“How the fuck would I know, Alexandra?”

I shrugged. “You’re wrong. Look up the lyrics on your pocket oracle.”

He smiled and shook his head. “I should but I won’t.”

“You always want something but are never willing to do what you need to get it,” I said.

He moved closer in a way that made my body quake. I couldn’t explain why. I felt warmth in unmentionable places.

“I cannot help it if most things justcometo me,” Rick said.

His hand grazed my cheek. He pulled my chin towards him.

“I usually get what I want. I am lucky to have people willing to do the work for me. And that includes women who are willing to do my bidding. Even if only to Google song lyrics.”

“Must be nice,” I said, pulling back a bit.

He put his other hand on the small of my back, drawing me in.
