He sat down. Inhaling her scent, his fingers rubbed the rumpled sheets where she’d slept. It aroused him, the desire he’d squashed down for so long crashing to the surface.

“Kellan? What are you doing in here?”

Steam billowing out behind her, naked beneath a towel, Arien stood in the open doorway. Beads of water dripped from the ends of her hair, gliding past creamy swells to disappear in the valley between her breasts.

Without answering, he stood and stalked toward her. With his hands on either side of her head, Kellan caged her against the wall. He trailed his lips over the pulse in her neck and breathed in deep. Filling his lungs with her, he held onto her breast, squeezing it through the towel.

“Kel,” she squeaked, biting her lip.

He reached inside the towel for her nipple. Pinching it between his fingers and stroking it with his thumb, he nipped at her earlobe. “Don’t let those flowery words and his sweet ways fool you, little sister.”

Arien whimpered.

“He and I are the same.” His hand moved down her belly to the flesh he craved between her thighs. He cupped her pussy, a finger sliding up her slit. Warm and wet. All for him.

Breathing against her skin, Kellan heard the air catch in her throat. He pressed on her clit. “Maybe Tanner’s what you want, but I’m what you need.”

And he kissed her.

Her lips formed a bridge for all his pent-up feelings to flood into. Frustration. Desire. Anger. Lust.

But what of love?

It was there. The promise of it. All Arien had to do was stay and claim it.

I’m right here for the takin’, baby cakes.

With his fingers clamped around her neck, their mouths mated, tongues touching in a wet, frenzied dance. Kellan rubbed her clit, feeling it swell beneath his thumb.

Her shaking thighs could barely hold her. He held her up so she wouldn’t fall, loving the sound of her scream as she came.

“I think…” He smirked, licking the delicate sweetness from his fingers. “…what you really need, is us both.”

Sitting in the window seat, Arien stared at nothing through the glass, absently tracing three silver hearts on her wrist. It felt like a lucid dream. There had to be something in the air or the water here, because this place was getting to her. Chrissakes, what she did was almost as slutty as that time Savannah Mason and two football players got caught by the principal with their pants down in the girls’ bathroom.

It was during Arien’s freshman year of high school, and to this day everyone still talked about it. Nothing happened to the quarterback and his buddy, of course, which was bullshit. But the poor girl was so slut-shamed she couldn’t walk the halls after that. Her mom had to pull her out of school. How was that fair? Last she’d heard, Savannah left Denver to go to college in Chicago.

Even though she didn’t have to worry about anything like that happening in Brookside, Arien couldn’t convince herself that making out—okay, it was a little more than just making out—with her stepbrothers wouldn’t come with some kind of repercussions. How could she resist their pull, though? Especially here, where she wasn’t expected to. Her head told her she should, but her heart, and other parts of her anatomy, had an altogether different idea.

Like a moth to the fire, she was drawn to them. Gentle and sweet, Tanner was just so easy to be with. And Kellan? Hair bristled all over her body just thinking of that kiss. She’d never tasted anything quite like it.

Yeah, there was definitely something in the water here. Because Arien wanted to kiss them both again. And it was fucking with her head.

“Whatcha thinkin’ about?”

Strong hands firmly kneaded her shoulders. Squeezing himself in behind her, Tanner wrapped her up in a giant hug, kissing the top of her head. Deep in her crazy thoughts, she hadn’t noticed he’d come in.

“Nothing,” she said, sinking against his chest. “Just zoned out, I guess.”

“Don’t believe ya.” Tanner fingered the bracelet on her wrist. “It’s okay, you know. I want you and Kellan to—”

“But it’s not,” adamantly, Arien disagreed. “It feels so messed up.”

“It’s fine. You’re fine.” His arms tightened around her.

She inhaled with a half-hearted shrug, blowing it out on a sigh. “I made out with both of my stepbrothers. That makes me a slut.”

“Does not.” Dipping his head, Tanner angled her face toward his. “Stop it. You’re thinking like an outsider.”
