He unbuttoned his jeans. “You want to see what’s yours?”

“Yes.”

He unzipped and took his cock out. Brendan gave it a firm tug and let it slap his belly. He waited to see her reaction, for her eyes to widen or her jaw to drop—that’s what he was used to seeing. It wasn’t her reaction at all. Katelyn licked her lips and her pupils flared. She rubbed her clit faster and harder.

“That’s it, sweet girl.” He wrapped his fingers around his cock and squeezed. “Are you thinking about how good this big dick will feel inside you?”

“Yes.”

“Only you, baby. Only you get this dick.” He stroked himself. “Do you understand?”

“Yes.”

She didn’t yet, but she would.

He belonged to her.

She belonged to him.

He wanted to be inside her so badly. To make love to her. And once he’d earned her trust, when Katelyn truly believed that he was committed solely to her, he would.

Yes, he fucking would.

It’s funny how everything feels so much better in the light of day.

Late-morning sunshine streamed in through the blinds. Katie woke to the sound of bells tolling from the church down the street. The day after Halloween was the feast of All Saints, wasn’t it? Or was it All Souls’ Day? Maybe she should have paid closer attention during those Saturday morning catechism classes when she was a kid. She still got them mixed up.

Whichever.

Brendan was picking her up at noon.

Was she happy about that? Hell, yes!

Katie was over-the-moon ecstatic, in spite of the reservations she had after last night’s performance. She laid in her bed and thought about everything long after Brendan kissed her goodnight and slipped out of the loft. Kelly had returned from her party not five minutes later. And today, sitting on her bed that still faintly smelled of him, bathed in glorious sunshine, the world behind the red door faded into obscurity.

She was going to have to tell Kelly, though. Maybe not about the club, but she wanted her to know that she was going out with Brendan. Katie didn’t want to sneak around or hide him from her. She knew what her aunt’s opinion of him was, and maybe Kelly was right, maybe he wasn’t “boyfriend material,” but Katie had a feeling Brendan was going to prove her wrong.

She hoped so anyway.

After showering, exfoliating, conditioning, and moisturizing, Katie sat at her vanity. Halloween was over, so no big fake eyelashes today. She wanted Brendan to see her authentic self, still it was their first date and she wanted to look pretty.

Now, what to wear?

Rifling through her closet, Katie didn’t have a clue. Brendan had only told her they were going to one of his favorite places in the city and that they’d be outside. She opted for cute and comfortable with a big chunky V-neck cardigan over a delicate bralette top of scalloped silk, faded jeans ripped at the knees, and flat-heeled booties. She tucked the front of the sweater into her jeans.

There!

Kelly would approve of her outfit at least.

It wasn’t quite noon when Katie ambled down from the loft to Beanie’s. Kelly looked awfully chipper considering she couldn’t have gotten more than a couple hours of sleep. She slipped behind the counter and started brewing some espresso. Brendan said he wanted to walk in there for a cup of coffee and walk out with her, so she was going to make that happen.

She was concentrating on pouring the steamed milk when Kelly made her way over to her. “Whatcha doin’?”

“Shh.” She didn’t want to fuck up his heart this time. “Ta-da! And that is latte art.”

Kelly laughed while giving her the once-over. “Are you going somewhere?”

“Yeah, I have a date.” Katie smiled as she snapped the lids on the lattes.
