Her brow furrows. “And why not?”

“Not to state the obvious, but I’m single.”

She laughs. “And here I thought you were married.”

Her laugh is intoxicating. “Never had the chance.” As soon as it leaves my mouth, I regret it. Now she is thinking that I’m some weirdo that girls can’t run away from fast enough.

I try to remember to eat, but she is beaming. She is nothing like in the coffee shop. Her confidence is beautiful, and that’s the way it should be.

We spend the next hour talking about politics, our favorite places in the city, and just enjoying each other’s company until some man across the restaurant keeps staring at her. The rage is billowing in my chest and I’m trying to keep my cool, to not let her see that side of me, but it’s beckoning to let loose.

I put my hand up to get our waitresses attention for the check, so Lily and I can get out of here. As I’m signing the check, she stares at me, biting her lip. And God, I want to do that.

“So, would you like to come back to my place?” I ask, forward because I’m not the type of person who likes to play games.

Lily grabs her clutch as I stand, and joins me with her arm hooked in mine. “I’d love to.”

Now is the real test to see if this is going to go forward. I’ll go easy on her tonight and show her what it’s like to be with me in the bedroom. She might run for the hills like other women, but I’m hoping she stays.

Lily

This man seems too good to be true. Here I am, riding with him back to his apartment, and I can’t help but wonder if he is some kind of ax murder. Yes, I blame Sophie for this. It’s all those crime shows she binges in the living room. He has my hand in his, and I’m trying not to freak out. Obviously, I know what happens when you go back to a man’s apartment after a date, and I’m all for it. It’s the nerves. What if he doesn’t find me attractive when my clothes are off?

The car stops in front of a tall building with a freaking doorman. Okay, he must be very rich. He takes my hand to help me out of the car, and walks past the doorman and holds open the glass doors for me. What a gentleman.

As we wait for the elevator, I am trying to get myself pumped up, because after everything, I do not need to be self-conscious. If he didn’t like the way I looked, he wouldn’t have asked me out.

“Are you okay?” he asks.

“I’m totally fine.”

Lie!

The elevator opens and we step inside, and all I can see out of the corner of my eye is the bottom lip in between his teeth. His breathing has quickened, and he seems just as excited about this night as I am.

We rush out of the elevator towards his door, slip his key in and open the door, putting his hand on the small of my back to usher me inside. The heat is radiating off of him as he moves closer. His hands are on my wrist, pulling my body against his. I look up into his eyes and see a fire burning within them.

The surrounding air is heavy as our eyes lock for a moment. His gaze is ardent and intense, and mine, full of desire and longing that match. The room is quiet except for the subtle beating of our hearts, thumping in unison as if our very souls are calling to one another.

He shifts closer, his hand reaching out to cup my cheek, his fingers tracing every curve of my face with a tenderness I have never experienced before. I close my eyes, cherishing the sensation of his touch, my breath catching in my throat as though I am under a spell. My heart races, each beat bringing me closer to him while the warmth of his skin seeps into my own.

His lips grace mine, a whisper of a kiss that feels like a caress. I shiver, a gentle tremor that ripples through her body like a wave. His lips sought mine once more, a slow and sensual kiss that deepens. Adler’s hands move to the small of my back again, drawing me close as he deepens the kiss further.

Time seems to stand still as our lips mate in a duet of passion that threatens to never end. His tongue explores my mouth, sending my senses into a whirlwind of bliss. Adler’s touch is like fire, igniting a passion that is consuming. His lips are sweet, like the first sip of an expensive wine.

The kiss seems to last for hours, yet somehow is never quite long enough. We cling to each other, our bodies intertwined. His hands move along my curves with a tenderness she has never felt before, and his breath against my skin leaves me weak.

He moves down to my neck, his lips brushing against my sensitive skin. I gasp in delight as he continues to explore my body with his hands. They move around my curves, slipping under my dress and caressing in all the right places.

“Damn!”

He moves his hands up to my breasts, cupping them and massaging them with his fingers. I moan in pleasure as his touch sends shivers down my spine, and then pushing me back against the wall. The coolness of the wall against my back juxtaposed the heat of his body. He trails kisses down my neck and collarbone, his hands never leaving my body.

Every touch is like a spark of pleasure, setting my body on fire. He continues to explore me, down to my thighs, pushing them apart and slipping lower. His fingers move in circles, teasing and sending me closer to the edge.

I gasp and throw my head back, my body shaking as he moves faster and faster, as the pleasure builds gradually, his touch tantalizing and addictive.
