We are together.

Our blood mingles into one. Blood of the Mother turns the entire table into gleaming red lava. We are complete. We are whole.

Measure the Blood of the Mother.

Shara carries the most, most, most…

Shara is Triskeles. This table is Skolos.

Undina is the Speaker of Skolos.

Our table is complete.

We know everything the others know.

Undina regrets her mistakes. She truly loves her son. She agreed to act as witness for Esetta on the barest hope Shara would someday find a way to free him. Not only from the queen of Rome—but also his beast.

We hear Esetta’s name and remember it because Shara remembers it.

Shara screams, “Rik!”

But he can’t hear.

Nuri whispers, “We have a king. Can we unchain him?”

But only the Speaker spoke aloud. “The Skolos Triune is complete.”

Shock ripples through us. We didn’t know a Triune queen could take a seat at another Triune’s table.

Though the Mother knows Her blood.

Blood is the key.

We see everything the others see.

We see Shara’s alpha surging forward. Granite fists pounding on the blood circles. Rage pouring through him. Through them all. They don’t like losing Shara’s bond. Not at all.

“Why are we here?” Shara asks. “What must we accomplish?

“The Mother speaks through us,” the Speaker said. “Make your claim before Her court.”

“We had to get Shara here,” Undina whispers. “The lure to bring the three together.” Regret flows through us like a drop of ink in the blood. “It wasn’t supposed to be like this.”

Basilia stares wide eyed at the table. Her mouth opens. Her eyes change. Darken. Her shock shifts as she makes a cold, mercenary decision. Her face hardens. She has made her choice.

Nothing is guaranteed but Carys saw a one-hundred percent likelihood.

Basilia wants Shara dead.

“Why? Why? Why?” Echoes through us.

She refused to come to the table. She delayed. She wouldn’t accept our calls. She wouldn’t take her seat. She didn’t want us to know.

What?

What does she hide?

Basilia pulls a knife out of her long, tapered sleeve. She steps closer to the table.
