“He nearly did. Lunatic was about to pop him in the back of the head. I bet he had money on the opponent,” Sammy muttered, offering commentary I had no stomach for.

Another heave had me spewing what little water I’d been able to get down. Sammy rubbed my back soothingly while Hayat continued to tear into our group. “Look at what you’ve done to Abi! She was so worried about you idiots that she made herself sick.”

“Was it nerves?” Sammy asked me quietly as her eyes ping-ponged around the others. “Or is it morning sickness? You never did say which.”

“Shut up,” I rasped, wiping my mouth with the back of my hand, smearing blood over my fingers. Ugh. Gross.

Panic flooded her face when she looked down at me. “Fuck. Okay. I’ll figure it out. Maybe it will be a boy. Please, please let it be a boy.”

Ignoring her nonsensical rambling, I focused on my sister. She stood off to the side, her arms wrapped around herself as she stared blankly at Sixx. Sweat coated him, making the blood on his face look more pink than red. Blood that I was fairly sure wasn’t his own.

Pushing away from the car I was using to hold myself up, I walked to Ali on shaky legs. I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her head to my chest. She didn’t react for several moments, but then, with a shudder, she began to sob.

“I-it’s all my fault.”

“No, it isn’t,” Sixx growled from beside me. “Baby, don’t cry. Everything is okay. I told you it would be. I promised, didn’t I?”

Ali only cried harder.

Kissing the top of her head, I rocked her against me. “Whatever the reason, it’s over now.”

“No, it’s not,” Sammy announced, her voice loud enough for us all to hear this time. I looked over at her, but she was watching Sixx. “You don’t compete in a fight club, dominate, and then walk away after one fight. People took notice of you in there tonight. The fact that you’re under the age of eighteen doesn’t matter. If anything, it only got you more attention. They own you now.”

“No,” Ali protested. Her tear-glazed eyes locked with mine, begging me to tell her it wasn’t true. “We can’t let that happen. Abi, it’s my fault. I did this. I’m responsible for everything.”

“Ali, shut up,” Sixx barked.

“No! Staying quiet is how I got you into this mess!” She closed her eyes, sucking in a few deep breaths. “There was this guy. He was bothering me at school. I didn’t say anything because I thought I could handle it on my own. But he wouldn’t leave me alone. He got my number. He kept harassing me. And then… He has pictures of me, Ali.”

“You sent him nude pictures?” Sammy demanded disapprovingly.

“She would never do that.” I rushed to defend my sister while Sixx growled something unintelligible at her.

“He took them while I was in the shower after my gym class,” Ali whispered. “He’s the PE teacher and one of the assistant basketball coaches at school.”

That her experience mirrored my own wasn’t lost on me. Only there were huge differences in our situations. One, I’d wanted Vaughn’s attention. Consent was everything. And I’d craved being with Vaughn. Two, my sister was fifteen years old. She might have looked like a woman with her curves, but she was just a baby. Three, according to Sammy, Vaughn wasn’t a real professor. Four, I was—maybe?—married to Vaughn.

“He’s also in the fight club. Or gang. Whatever this thing is,” Evan announced. “That was who Sixx was fighting tonight.”

Beside us, I could feel Sixx vibrating with rage. Now I understood why he’d been so focused on ripping out the other guy’s throat. I might have done the same thing if I’d known what that prick had done to my baby sister.

“Why didn’t you say anything?” Hayat demanded. “Why didn’t any of you? We could have done something.”

“What?” Bentley tossed out. “What could you have done, Hayat? She was scared. Fuck, she didn’t tell any of us what was going on. He was taunting her with shit for weeks. The only reason we found out was because Evan overheard him threatening her.”

“Are you hearing all of this?” Sammy muttered to herself.

I couldn’t deal with her crazy at the moment. I needed to take care of Ali. And figure out how to get Sixx out of the clusterfuck he’d gotten himself into. But standing around outside the warehouse wasn’t the answer. “Let’s go home. We can sort this out there.”

“If any of the parents see Sixx like that, he’s toast,” Bentley reasoned. “And I think he needs stitches. His knuckles are dripping blood everywhere.”

“He’s right,” Hayat agreed begrudgingly. “But if we take Sixx to the hospital, they will call Ro and Sin. I know you don’t want to go this route, but we are going to have to tell them.”

“Not necessarily.” Sammy leaned back against a truck, her arms crossed over her chest as she tilted her head side to side, her wild eyes taking in all of Sixx. “I can help you out of this little predicament you kids have stepped into.”

“Yeah, okay,” Bentley snorted. “Who the hell are you again? Abi never said.”

“Ah, he’s so cute,” Sammy gushed, turning her gleaming blue orbs on him. “Being adorable runs in the family, I see. But Daddy would never let me keep this one.”
