She trembled as he sped up, his movements becoming more powerful. Harder. They sent shockwaves of pleasure rippling through her, stretching out her release until she felt like she was floating.

But then he tensed behind her. His grip on her hips tightened, and his movements became less smooth. On the third thrust, he growled and exploded within her, cock jerking and pulsing as he filled her with his seed.

As the waves of pleasure subsided, he collapsed onto the bed, taking her with him. His breath washed over her neck as he murmured, "You're mine now, Sadie. All mine."

She smiled, her body still tingling with pleasure, and let contentment wash over her. For the first time in a long time, she felt like she was exactly where she was supposed to be.

Vaarn's eyelids fluttered open. He squinted at the dim lights of the cockpit, still adjusting to the lack of sleep, the soft hum of the ship familiar and comforting. He was sore from the previous day's escape, and their nocturnal activities but both were satisfying aches—the kind that reminded him he had protected his own.

His own. Finally, he had a mate... Sadie.

He turned his head, looking down at the small female nestled in his arms. She was still sound asleep, her tiny form curled up against him. The delicate rise and fall of her breathing stirred the hairs on his chest, and he smiled. Lifting his hand, he gently brushed a stray lock of hair from her face. He couldn't believe how trustingly she lay in his arms after what she'd seen the day before. He'd never wanted her to see him in combat, never wanted her to see the sheer, utter ruthless bastard he could be when he had a blade in his hand. And he'd never wanted her to have any reason to look at him in fear.

But she had seen him in combat, she'd seen him kill… And not only had she not run screaming in fear, but she had actually turned to him for both comfort and protection.

His heart swelled, a strange warmth spreading out from the center of his chest. He didn't recognize it… Was it love? He had little experience with the emotion, so he didn't know how to identify it. Whatever it was, it was foreign to him, but if it was love, then he found himself eager to embrace it.

He would do anything for his little mate.

It was a miracle he never thought possible, not with everything his species had been through. But now he had one, he knew one thing. He would protect her, care for her, and make her happy. No matter what it took. Until the end of his days.

He couldn't look away from her face, his gaze latched onto the soft features that gave her an exotic beauty he'd never seen before. Unlike some others of his kind, he was old enough to remember the females of their species. They had been tall and slender, nowhere near as curvaceous as the delicate little female in his arms. Their features, while beautiful, had been harder and sharper than those he'd seen on the human females in the Mating Program. It was as if the gods had gotten together and taken every fantasy he'd ever had, and created the perfect female, just for him… In Sadie.

He was transfixed by the full lips that were slightly parted, and the eyelashes that cast delicate shadows on her cheeks. He couldn't resist the urge to lean in and press a soft kiss to her forehead.

She stirred at the touch, her eyelids fluttering open to reveal bright blue eyes. A sleepy smile spread across her face.

"Good morning," she said, her voice still rough from sleep.

He returned her smile, wanting nothing more than to wake up to her beautiful face every morning for the rest of his life. "Good morning, kelarris."

Her eyes filled with confusion. "You've called me that before. What does it mean?"

His grin widened and he pulled her closer into his arms, settling her more comfortably against his chest. She'd spent most of the night asleep against it, which he was not going to complain about. "Doesn't your translation matrix pick it up?"

She shook her head, and a small frown formed between her brows. "No, I think it's playing up. I couldn't understand a lot yesterday either, during the trade negotiations. It was like everybody was talking gobbledygook, I could only pick up a few words here and there. And with everybody screaming at me…" She shrugged. "To be honest, it was quite terrifying."

Draanth, he hadn't thought of that. He'd known she was in a completely unfamiliar environment, but he hadn't realized she couldn't understand anybody. That would've made the whole thing worse. Especially with pirates chasing them, intent on kidnapping her.

"We'll need to get that looked at when we're back at Devan Station," he said, stroking her back reassuringly. "It should work better than that. A lot of the languages used yesterday were common in this part of the galaxy so they should be part of the coding in your matrix."

She tilted her head back so she could meet his eyes. "So what does it mean?"

He raised an eyebrow, giving her a blank, innocent look. "What does what mean?"

She rolled her eyes and smacked his chest lightly. "You know what I mean!"

"Oh, when I called you kelarris?" He chuckled and leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to her lips. "Kelarris means beloved in the Latharian language."

He couldn't resist the temptation to claim her lips again, exploring them as though he hadn't spent all night doing exactly that and more. Heat rolled through him lazily as he slid a large hand into the fall of hair at the nape of her neck and held her in place so he could plunder her mouth. She shifted over him, straddling his hips as she kissed him back. His cock punched to full mast, sliding between her slick pussy lips.

He ached to claim her again, but instead he held still. He wasn't unaware of how large he was compared to her, and with the amount of times he'd taken her in the night, she had to be sore. No matter how much his body raged at him, he refused to bring discomfort to his little mate.

Reluctantly, he broke the kiss. "We need to get moving," he told her in a low voice. "We should get back to the station, or they'll send out search parties."

"Ugh… yeah," she said. "I'm surprised Halle hasn't already. She was not a fan of this plan."
