“You’re lucky,” Kaden begins, and then tosses the bat towards the other side of the room. It hits the floor with a loud wooden clattering. “That my brother is not as particular about his bats as I am about my knives. When will you learn not to touch another man’s weapons without his permission?”

“When you learn not to put a chastity belt on a woman without her permission,” I snipe back.

He chuckles.

Still holding the keys out of my reach, he shakes his hand, making them jingle. “You want these?” He shoots a pointed look down at the floor before his feet. “You know what to do.”

Huh. So, apparently, Jace did know what he was talking about.

Still doesn’t mean I’m actually going to do it, though.

Throwing my arms out in frustration, I instead snap, “What was I supposed to do? I told you that my father set up that date. I didn’t want to go on it either, but I had to because I need to follow his orders.”

Kaden’s expression darkens. Sliding the keys back into his pocket, he takes a step forward while locking hard eyes on me. I take a step back. He keeps advancing, backing me towards the wall.

“No,” he says, his voice now low and lethal. “You don’t need to follow his orders.”

My heart slams against my ribs as my back suddenly hits the smooth dark wall behind me. Kaden keeps coming until he is standing so close that my chest almost brushes against his stomach when I draw in unsteady breaths. Raising his hand, he trails soft fingers along my jaw.

Then he wraps his hand around my throat and levels a stare dripping with authority on me. “The only orders you need to follow are mine.”

A dark thrill races down my spine at the way he growls that final word. My pulse flutters underneath his strong hand as he flexes his fingers around my throat. I swallow.

“He didn’t touch me,” I say. “You told me that no other man can touch me. Josh never did. We only had lunch.”

“It doesn’t matter. You do not go on dates with other men.”

Frustration flashes through me, and I shove against his chest. “You can’t just keep making up rules like this and expect me to follow them!”

His hand disappears from my throat in an instant. I suck in a startled breath as it instead closes around my right wrist. Yanking against his grip, I try to pull my hand back, but Kaden simply moves it up over my head.

Cold metal presses against my skin. Then a click echoes into the otherwise dead silent room.

I snap my gaze up.

My wrist is now trapped high above my head by a set of handcuffs that had already been secured to the metal ring in the wall.

Oh great. The sarcasm flows through me. He had already prepared this little trap for me before I even walked through the door.

I struggle futilely as Kaden grabs my other wrist and locks that in above my head as well. Metallic rattling fills the room as I yank against my restraints while Kaden strolls away.

“What the hell are you doing?” I demand.

A thud sounds as he closes the door to his bedroom on the way to that damn cabinet with all of his equipment.

My eyes widen as he pulls out a massive ball gag before starting back to me.

“Kaden,” I warn, pulling against the handcuffs again.

Unflinching command rolls off his broad shoulders as he strides back to me and grabs my jaw. I throw my head from side to side, but I might as well be a doll in the face of his overwhelming power.

Fury and fear and terrible lust burns through me as Kaden forces the ball gag into my mouth. Once it’s in place behind my teeth, he tightens the straps around the back of my head, trapping the gag there.

“Since you refuse to tell me what I want to hear, you have lost speaking privileges,” Kaden declares.

I try to curse him to hell, but only garbled noise makes it past the red silicon ball that fills my mouth.

Kaden grabs my jaw again, holding my head motionless while he locks merciless eyes on me. “The gag stays on until you’re ready to beg.”
