***Sebastian***

Fiona’s face twisted with concern. “For what?”

“Jane, my ex-wife, said she came to visit you this morning.” I mentally cursed Jane and sighed. “I’m sorry, angel. I know that you’ve had two shitty experiences with exes now and Jane shouldn’t have imposed herself on you. She’s not like Ryder or Jake’s exes but I’m sure you didn’t need another ex-wife showing up.”

She surprised me by laughing. “You’re apologizing for Jane showing up at the house?”

Confused, I pressed on. “Well, yeah. She shouldn’t have just shown up. She can be a lot at times and if she made you uncomfortable or-”

“Sebastian. Jane was great. I think we’re friends now.” Fiona reached up and turned on the overhead light. It cast shadows of her lashes down her cheeks and made her eyes look even bigger. “She was a breath of fresh air after Sara and Megan. I’ll admit that I got a little worried when she said that you two are still best friends, but by the time she left, I completely understood it. How could you not stay best friends with her? She’s so nice. And funny.”

I sat back, even more confused. “You like her.”

“Of course. She’s great, Sebastian. And having one ex-wife not hate me feels like a giant win. Why would you think I wouldn’t like her?” She frowned suddenly. “Were you worried she’d say something I’m not supposed to know, or…? I don’t get it.”

I let out a short laugh and ran my hand down my face, a wave of stress falling away. “No, I don’t have secrets. I’m just shocked. The woman I dated after my divorce hated Jane. She threw a fit every time I talked to Jane, despite knowing I still work with her. It was hell. I just…sort of assumed that you’d dislike her, too. I should’ve known better.”

She nodded. “You should’ve. Your ex-girlfriend sounds closer to Sara or Megan than me or any other sane woman.”

“She does, doesn’t she?” I studied Fiona’s face and felt even more pieces slide into place. “I was worried about losing you.”

Her smile was warm. “I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere. I’ve missed you, though.”

“Work has been busy but I’m working on rearranging some things so I have more free time.” I cupped her face. “I do have one secret. I’ve been so fucking jealous of all the time Jake and Ryder have gotten with you. They’ve taken you out on dates and both of them made sure I knew that they were touching you and more. I’ve been so twisted up that I wasn’t sure if I wanted to rip their hands off or just beg to get some time of my own.”

Her eyes lit up. “Ignoring the fact that they rubbed it in your face, I have spent more time with them. It doesn’t mean I’ve missed seeing you any less. I was so happy when I got your text tonight.”

“Yeah?” I noticed the way she shifted in her seat and rested my hand on her knee. “What made you so happy?”

She tipped her head forward so a few strands of wet hair partially hid her face. “The part where I thought you were making a booty call.”

“What if I told you that was my plan after I apologized?” I slid my hand higher. “Do you remember what sex with me has to be like?”

Her breath came faster. “How could I ever forget? You need control.”

I nodded and reached up to turn the light off. Next, I turned the truck off and we were submerged into complete blackness. I listened as her breathing turned into panting with her nervousness and excitement. I was willing to bet that she didn’t know which feeling was winning. “What’s your stop word?”

She was silent for a few seconds and then she whispered the word, like she didn’t want to taste it on her tongue. “Red.”

I hummed quietly. “Good girl. I’m going to get out and you’re going to follow me out this side of the truck. Got it?”

“Yes, sir.”

I squeezed my eyes shut as a painful arousal colored in the dark recesses of my brain. “Close your eyes. The overhead light is going to come on and if you look at it, your eyes will take even longer to adjust to the darkness.”

I waited for a few seconds and then I pushed the truck door open and pulled her out with me. Once the door was shut again and the light was off, I opened my eyes and smiled when I could barely make out her face in the darkness. I let go of her hand and stepped backwards just one pace and listened to her quick intake of breath.

“Sebastian?” She whimpered my name like a prayer and the tips of her fingers brushed over my chest as she reached for me. Her hands both fisted in my shirt after she felt me and then she was glued to my front, her face tipped up to mine. “Don’t leave me.”

I ghosted a kiss over her mouth. “Never.”

She gasped when I spun her around and pressed her into the side of the truck. I pinned her there with my body and grazed my teeth down her neck. Her damp hair smelled like coconut and she shivered when I took a deep inhale of it.

I gripped her wrists and put her hands on the truck. “Don’t move them.”

She let out a breathy moan when I gripped the outside of each of her thighs and dragged my hands up, pulling her shirt up as I went. I pulled it over her head but left it twisted around her arms and over her face. I ran my knuckles down her spine and when I didn’t run into the panties I thought I would, I growled.
